The one city that really took me by surprise in Portugal was Porto. I had seen some photos before, but being there, this unique combination of river, steep hills, old architecture, colours, old shabby houses and lots of life really stunned me.

Most of the churches have been built on top of the hills and dominate the skyline. Wherever you are, always a different view, almost a diffent city you´re looking at.

Hi Johannes,
Many views from Portugal, may it be from Lisbon or Porto, look like my city, Istanbul. Very nice perspective, heading to the church up there. The colors and light are good. Quality is very good. TFS,

Many idea behind this photo,I like the way you used the character of level of this area to lead the eye to subject that end of the eye by highest point of this area. The contrast of roof color and color of wall tower create what your call outstanding.Good work,TFS

olá,
very nice photo that shows the true Porto full of churches and houses in the hills. the roofs by themselves make a wonderfull picture since they have always different colors and are disposed in different angles which create great graphical effects. the rest is as you said, whenever you are you have a different view that sometimes looks like a different city! cheers and welcome to Portugal!!

Yes, Porto is great and your pictures captures this. The two bottom corners (placard and dish) are maybe a bit over the top, I'd prefer a square format here, though you'd loose on the sense of height. Options...

Thanks for the great post.

Benny

Hi Johannes,

Stunning colors and textures created by terracotta roof tiles and old facades. They are really eye catching in your perfectly captured photo. Excellent addition of castle at back and real feeling slope by buildings under splendid sky. Very good clarity in natural colors and sharpness. Congratulations.

Best Regards,

Ertugrul

Johannes,
a perfect POV to explore the upper crust of Porto. the red of the roofs contrasting with the towers in the background is a good one. the sky gives me the impression that this might be a scanned image. Is that right?
Peter

Hi Johannes,
Agree Porto is a very attractive place, can also be somewhat chaotic in a mediterranean way as shows this foreground maze of roofs, but it is what makes its charm as well as a convenient foreground to take the eye up to the church.
Have a nice day JY
