Photographer’s Note

This is one of my most favourite views towards the famous area Alfama. In the background there is the Se cathedral and in the lower right corner a part from a very old house can be seen - Bicos House.
One of the things which make Alfama such a charming place is the terraced way the buildings are constructed in. One can only guess whether and how many small streets pass through the buildings in this photo only, and what to speak about the whole area. Many of them have no names or if they have, probably only the inhabitants of the houses know them.
From what I saw there I can guess the streets of Alfama are not that popular for the huge tourist groups so one can stroll up and down the tiny streets and passages almost unnoticed.
