X-mas in Madeira Photo

Photographer’s Note

I just came back from some vacations in Portugal, where we went to Madeira and Lisboa. Madeira is a very beautiful island from the nature point of view. It also offers the additional advantage in December that you can see all the beautiful X-mas decoration, especially at night, and the fireworks from New Year over the bay.

I took this shot while walking under the X-mas tree which was standing at the cais. I loved the way the red balls looked organized randomly and the contrast of its color with the dark sky and the bright circles. I would have liked to include a frame, but I don't remember how to do it.

The picture was sharpened slightly and resized to meet TE size standards. I had to resize further , because at 800 x 640 it was still to heavy.

hey Yvonne,

What ISO were you shooting at? I understand how it's lost some sharpness because of the low shutter speed, maybe a higher shutter speed would have allowed more flexibility.

Wow, Yvonne.. this is a fantastic shot, some cosmic sight, something to do with astrology, the stars, the galaxies; great POV, those floating red balls and the circular lines behind really hypnotic... congratulations!!! Daniel

Uma foto com bastante grafismo e impacto de cores!
As diferenças entre as cores fazem a foto muito mais forte!
a sensação de profundidade também está presente!

A very interesting composition with good exposure control. One small suggestion is that if you were to use a smaller aperture value, then more of the image would be able to be in focus

Really a beautiful and orginal composition. Something different from the usual X-mass pictures.

Terrific and innovative photo - gives either a completely abstract impression, or that of a vast complex stetching up into infinity.
A great spot on your part.

Hello Yvonne,
This is ( For me and probably for many others ) a picture that should have got much more points. It is really amazing with all the black and these circles and red spots all around. Actually it is also a quiz to discover what it is really, I wonder how many people could guess. Nice work Yvonne - Izzet
