"The Monastery of Santa Maria da Vitória belongs to the World Heritage and is a grand monument to the closing phase of Portuguese Gothic in the 14th century.
The church in the shape of a Latin Cross, three navesands at the head of the nave, four side chapels stand on either sides of the high-altar.
Behind the transept at the back of the church, access is gained to the Royal Cloisters; here the Manueline open stone and sculpting are magnificent.
Afonso Domingues was responsible for the work of the Chapter's House that rises to a single vault that has no other support than the walls.
From the outside it is easy to see the Manueline decoration along the upper part of the walls. It is one of the unquestionable most beautiful gothic monuments of Portugal and of the World." (UNESCO) |

Très belle prise de vue Dias, l'angle de prise de vue magnifie cette superbe cathédrale. Nos aînés avaient bien du talent.
Impressionnant et vertigineux.
Very well done.
Excelente imagem da igreja do mosteiro da Batalha. Tenho uma série de fotos sobre este local mas numca consegui captar bem a igreja... Exclenete PDV, cores e detalhes.
A very interesting note and a wonderful perspective of this beautiful church, Dias, very nice to look up so high !
This is a very impressive point of view! The diagonal is excellent choice of composition, also. All the corners of the photo are well connected and everything is linked together so smoothly and fluidly. The columns seem to rise to staggering heights in a sort of natural and smooth way. They seem so fragile and thin, also from here. The lighting is excellent. Very well mediated between the vault and the windows. I think you have captured the essence of a soaring Gothic cathedral perfectly. And you've captured very good texture and detail in this soaring view. Another thing this photo does is make me turn my head on its side and enjoy it from different ways. Excellent job!

Wow! This is a fine composition. As an admirerer of medieval architecture, this pleases me a lot. A splendid structure well captured. Beautiful light and an interesting and impressive PoV. I only wish the image were a bit larger. Well seen. Well done.
