"Praia da Adraga is a North Atlantic beach in Portugal, near to the town of Almoçageme, Sintra. It has been recommended in British newspapers.[1] It is a "Blue Flag beach" with access for handicapped persons, It has an excellent restaurant and a very good emergency service system, although it is hard to reach by public transportation.
Because of its beauty it has been the subject of many photographs and many blogs."

in "Wikipédia"

There were no clouds all day long. As the evening was approaching, some scattered clouds came by, and as I was getting out of work in direction of Adraga I though how nice it was to have some fluffy clouds in the composition. As I came up to the beach, the fluffy clouds became a wall of dark clouds, threatening to rain any minute. But in the horizon, a thin line of unclouded sky kept smiling for the photographers in the beach (I wasn’t alone), and as the sun was just above the horizon line, and under the clouded sky it shone for as couple of minutes, giving me the desired contrast against the dark sky. The foreground rocks gave the strong foreground that I like so much, and the lit midground rock aiming the sky something to catch the eye.

Hope you enjoy this one. Any critiques comments or questions are welcome.

Hi Joao!

Wow! What a great landscape! The sunset warm light create an incredible atmosphere. The clouds are apocalypticly dramatic and thanks to your wide angle, you’ve seized it perfectly.

excellent composition!

hi joao;
perfect ,amazing ,welldone..rocks,sea,waves,clouds and your POV..TFS

great shot!!

I love the light. My only nit would be that it could use a little rotation to the right. The horizon is just a bit off. Other than that, this is a great shot.

Very beautiful picture, I like the color and the composition, the sunlight also awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Victor

hi Joao, very nice shot with excelent POV. good longexposition and shine and shadows game on the rocs.

You've captured a great light Joao, beautifully warm. Composition is excellent, but possibly a little too narrow IMO. Fabulous colours. Regards, Roberto

I like the sharpness and clarity here to begin with as theyre superb and thenn the coours, tones and tetxures which capture the mood and the scene so well making it come alive at once. Superb compisition indeed, very fine work

Well done, it's very well contrasted. You've known how using the light between this amazing sky.
Great shot,
Nice regards,
Jean-Claude

Hi Joao,
Excellent photo! I really like the perspective, DOF, and lighting here. The clouds add drama to the photo and the exposure gives the water that lovely silky smooth look. Very well composed, captured and framed!
Claudia

Hi Joao, what an excellent composition and colors. Like the depth of the picture and the warm sun rays coming from the left casting long shadows. Well done. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Michael

hello

Hi Joao,

fantastic light and colours, and amazing place...the polarizer really helped, well done!

Take care, Ivana

Parabéns, por várias razões:
- É uma excelente foto;
- É a melhor que já vi da Adraga;
- Já lá fui n vezes e nunca consegui nada de jeito;
- Da última vez que lá estive o mar levou-me (e trouxe de volta) a minha N80 + Tripé + encharcadela que eu levei... Estou de volta à minha F301 e sem a grande angular;
Está nas minhas favoritas!

hi Joao

something new :) I'm glad you found time for shooting.
very nice one. great contrast between golden light, calm, blurred sea and heavy clouds. I like depth and those rocks. I love the type of coast you have there (in some parts of course). Despite such a big tourist industry you still have places that look so wild and untouched. Rocks (and mountains) fascinating me a lot more than the water :)

I'm wondering how would it look in b&w... maybe I will try if have some time (that's always a big problem)

greetings
Grzegorz

Wonderful shot! The rocky shoreline is shown very well with the low light, really outlining the shapes very well and also giving us a nice warm colour. The dark sky in the background is great too, because it gives this a very dramatic look. Excellent!

This is the best landscape photo I've seen on TE in a long time! I have no words to critique your photo João. All I can say is...Bom, muito bom! A maneira em que a luz está a iluminar as nuvens e as rochas é muito lindo. Todo está perfeita nesta foto. Parabéns pelo bom trabalho.

Splendid! A perfect photo, Joao!
Best regards
JJ

Olá João,
Excelente trabalho!
As cores estão óptimas assim como a definição e o ponto de vista escolhido.
Parabéns!

Joao,

Great drama! If anything I think I want less border. Your pictures are strong enough to stand on their own. Wish I could give 4 points for this one.

This is a great result, Rodrigues.

I like the warm light filtering through clouds and lightening the rocks that way.
HDR is very good for improving the results with this light and with the dramatic sky.

Gianluca
