S. Pedro & the Battle of Ourique Photo

Photographer’s Note

This is the Chapel of S. Pedro das Cabeças, situated a few kilometres far from Castro Verde.It was built in the 16th century in a popular mannerist style. Situated on the top of a hill, it can be seen from a distance. This is also one of my favourites. This place is also very special because it is said that it was here that the Battle of Ourique took place, in 1139. In this battle,a very important one, Afonso Henriques defeated the moors and started calling himself King of Portugal (he became then our first king). Behind this chapel there's a monument commemorating the event.
I'm posting some photos of it in the workshop.

Tens aqui uma bonita composição com a capela branca contra um céu azul. Gosto destas fotos e das notas que contam a história gloriosa de Portugal. Muito bem. A capela em si, parece-me um pouco sobre-exposta mas, se foi para evitar mostrar aquilo que me parece ser grafiti no lado direito, então foi muito bem visto. O monumento que mostras no WS é também muito interessante e congratulo-me pela sua existência e carácter informativo.

EXelent note.
I will said than this picture is very minimalistic pisture, but beutiful, I like the tree, is like supporting the church like it partner both are posing by thi pictre and make a grate couple, I like the sky too and the simplicity of the church by it self.

Exelent work.

I would like to know if still there a re a royalty people living in portugal and if the poeple is interesting in them

Olá Anabela,
you managed challenging light conditions as I see. But even with that you got some textures on the white wall. Your composition with the chapel and the tree for balancing is pleasant but I would prefer some change in the height. A bit less sky by cropping or a bit more hill by the shot itself would be interesting to compare.
The workshop additions tell more about this place, thanks for that and the words in your note.

Hi Ana,

This is a wonderful image .. there is an elegant simplicity to it ... the almost "solid" color blue sky and green earth .. the road .. the simple tree .. next to a simple unadorned but beautiful church .. the curved lines add a sense of beauty and thought .. the whiteness of the church really brings out the door and the simple beauty of the place and the whole scene.

Muito bonita Ana! Este céu azul limpo faz maravilhas por esta foto. A composição estão boa, mas podia estar ainda melhor ;) Podias ter dado um pouco mais de espaço à igreja na direita e aumentado um pouco o espaço entre a árvore e o edifício. Isso significava que te teria de chegar um nada mais perto e sem uma grande angular já não sei se a tua Sony conseguia apanhar isto como aqui está. Mas pelo menos o pouquito de espaço a mais na direita isso conseguias. Verticalmente está perfeita com o ceú a "pesar" sobre os elementos de forma magistral. Gosto das cores e da luz e daquele bocadinho de sombra por debaixo do beiral. Escolheste a hora certa para fotografar esta, se bem que uma hora ou duas depois (mais perto do por do sol) também não teria resultado pior. Gosto muito!

esta Capela parece acabada de ser caiada para tu a fotografares :)
bonita capela com traços de origem mourisca,a perspectiva de profundidade até ao sino da capela ficou muito bem e aquele pequeno toque de sombra no beiral é um apontamento bom.

os poucos e maravilhosos componentes incluídos na composição deixou sua foto "clean" e muito bem elaborada. Gostei também da tonalidade do azul do céu, muito parecido com quem faz uso de filtros polarizadores.

Interessante conhecer este lugar. Não sabia que havia um sítio específico com um monumento à Batalha de Ourique. E a haver pensaria que fosse no concelho de Ourique.
