Coimbra near the Mondego river.Coimbra (pron. IPA [ku'ĩbɾɐ]) is a city and a municipality in Portugal. The municipality has a population of 142,408 inhabitants, and over 435,000 inhabitants live in the Greater Metropolitan Area of Coimbra made of 16 municipalities comprising a 3370 km² area. It is the district seat of Coimbra district, being located in Baixo Mondego subregion, which belongs to the larger Centro region from whom it is the capital. Like most university cities, there is also a large number of dislocated students from outside Coimbra residing in the city.

Coimbra is one of the most important urban centers of Portugal after the much larger Lisbon Metropolitan Area and Porto Metropolitan Area conurbations, and plays a role as the chief city of the central part of the country. The city, which was the capital of Portugal from 1139 to about 1260, has a large archeological site with extensive ruins dating from the time it was a Roman town called Aeminium. Coimbra developed into an important cultural centre, mainly because of the University of Coimbra founded in 1290. The university is one of the oldest in Europe and due to its monumental buildings and history attracts tourists from around the world.

Hi Elias!
Good to see a photo from Coimbra here. You got a very nice detail, this narrow street you see here is called Rua Corpo de Deus and it leads to what used to be the old Jewish quarter of the city.I think if you had moved a little more to the left, you would get a better vision of this buildings that are beautiful also.I like it!
Regards, Anabela

Olá amigo, spectacular perspective with fantastic colors and architectural details. Love the narrow façade, but also the charming place with narrow alleys that invites us to explore. About the title, I like the way you express your own feelings. Each one of us are unique and that's what makes human souls so fascinating.
Have a good friday,
Ricardo

Hi Elias,

a well framed shot. The wire at the top's a bit distracting but I guess it's hard to work around that. I may have tried to include the entire ramp on the right (ie all the way leading down to street level) in the shot.

Hola Elias:

Elias pienso que el titulo se lee mejor "I didn't ask to be born". M gusta la arquitectura de esta ciudad. Los edificios tienen tantos detalles pequeños y la claridad de la foto ayuda mucho a verlos. Muy diferente de los edificios que veo a diario in Calgary. Buen trabajo Elias :-)

Roberto

Wow, Its long time I dont look in TE site, well nice to see you agan, great photo:)

Hola Elias,
Very strange building, with so small wall.
F

Great and rich architecture, I like the house on the left with such a narrow side, good POV and colours,
Bravo and have a good weekend,
Cath.
