Rossio is one of the most beautiful squares in Lisbon. People pass here everyday, rushing for work, and hardly take the time to look around. It's not only the beautiful monuments and the fountains, or its fascinating history... Rossio is a living book.

Recently renovated, it hasn't lost any of its mysticism... Feel it around the D. Maria II National Theatre, where many plays were, and are, performed and seen by Kings and Queens.
In the middle of the square there's a statue of Dom Pedro IV and at its foot the four female figures representing Justice, Wisdom, Strength and Moderation, qualities attributed to Dom Pedro himself.
The originally called 'Dom Pedro IV Square', got the name Rossio from the local people and it's still today a traditional meeting point both for Lisboetas and visitors.

Hi Alana! Nice shot and processing ... I recently past some days in this lovely city, it's just such a wonderfull place. TFS, Mike

An interesting picture but some people might criticize it as being modified too much -- more appropriate for TrekLens. But it is a very likeable picture.

It's a very intersted picture.

Hi Alana,
Very good shot,Alana.I like the black and white with color of the statue, very well composed, good work!
Very well,Alana.
Best regards
Christian

Very good good work. The partial desaturation resulted very well here providing a good contrast between the cow and the surrounding environment. Unusualy, I Like the centered composition. Really great.

Hi Alana

Good composition. I like the black & white with the contrast of color. The ground of the square makes an interesting prespective and a good use of lines.
good job

alana

I visited this square many times, really is a very nice place. But your photo, WOW, wonderful work in B&W and the portuguese colors in a high way. How a portuguese would say: Que maravilha !

Jorge

Hi Alana,
This one captured my attention. I was about to visit your gallery after coming from the last post of Sarju...but found this fabulous work first. The picture is very well taken with the historic surroundings and you did a great job with pp and also have a good informative note (better than mine...).
There is a detail that impressed me here, which is the date: 21 of May is correct? Well, I'm doing a series of these cows and most of them were shot on this same day, including the ones from this square. I might even got you on my shots, he,he,he. And may be I'm the guy photographing the yellow cow in the background, over the halph sphere...who knows...
Anyway, good to find you.
Have a nice weekend,
Ricardo
p.s.- just added to the cow series theme.

Hello Alana,
Well done on the post processing! It is very effective of course, and makes the cow really stand out...
Image is well composed with good balance, excellent details all over including the cow!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Alana,
I was going through your gallery today and I must admit many of your pictures are inspiration for me. I am a great fan of this partial desaturation. It really hits the blue eye. This one is of sharpest focus with superb tones.
I will add you to my favourites. Just keep up the good work :))

wonderful shot and excellent PP-work, alana! :-)
the square really is beautiful - superb composition with the colorful "portuguese" cow in the middle.
the B&W emphasizes the great wave-pattern of the stones.
well done & take care, thorsten.
