Ria de Aveiro is extended, for the interior, parallel to the sea, in a distance of 47 km and with 11 a maximum width of km, in the direction This-West, since Ovar until Mira. Ria is the result of the jib of the sea, with the coastal lace formation that, from séc. XVI, had formed a lagoon that constitutes one of the most important and beautiful hidrográficos accidents of the Portuguese coast.
It accumulates of stocks 11 000 hectares, of which 6 000 permanently are flooded, are unfolded in four important canals ramified in esteiros that surround one without number of islands and ilhotes.
Rich in fish and aquatic birds, it possesss great local water plans of election for practical of all the nautical sports.
