Monastery of Leca do Bailio Photo

Photographer’s Note

This is a Monastery, not far from where I live.
It was built arround the XI century and, on the XIV century, it was adapted as a fortress from where many catholic chavaliers set off to fight the Cruzades. It´s construction is so sturdy, that even having been in the middle of many fights and battles, it was never re-built, keeping it's original aspect.
I took 3 wide angle photos, that I "glued" together "by hand" in photoshop 7. I don´t use panorama software since Photoshop standard tools give me a lot more control over the final result.
The image was colour corrected and cleaned.

This is a beautifully composed shot, Emanuel. The monastery is a very imposing structure, it's easy to see why it would have endured throughout all the centuries (like you describe in your excellent note). Great colors and detail, and the dramatic sky adds on to the atmosphere. I like the panoramic format a lot, but I think you could crop a bit from the left side.

By the way, as long as your panoramic shot has a width to height ratio of 2.5:1 or greater, you will be able to post the 3000 pixel version as a "large post". I'm sure that would be very enjoyable for TE members to look at.

Um mosteiro imponente Emanuel! A tua composição é excelente dando-nos uma visao panorâmica do local bastante agradável. Acho que esta foto ficaria muito bem na "larger version". Mais um bom trabalho, parabéns!

Esta atrai-me mais, talvez pela panoramica, pelas sombras no lado esquerdo e mesmo pelo trabalho que fizeste com a moldura, estilo 16:9!

Acho que toda a gente pensou o mesmo... "Porque raio não pôs ele um panorama?!!!". Não sabias como é sempre uma desculpa aceitável... :o)

Excelente imagem. Aqui a visão centrada funciona muito bem devido à imponência do monumento. Boas cores.
