Photographer’s Note

Fado song. Song five: Gonzo
Somehow the name Gonzo came to my mind and stayed there firmly.
This type of charming men could be found all over that lovely town of Porto. Particularly in the region of Ribeiro located on the right bank of the river Douro. And they fit the scenery so well.
In the workshop you can find another portrait of the man.

Une belle photo sur cette homme de profil, j'aime beaucoup la lumière qui vient frapper et qui donne l'ambiance méditerranéenne... J'aime la courte profondeur de champ et les couleurs qui apparaissent dans l'arrière-plan ! Très réussit.

No, w istocie - ca³y Gonzo. Dobry portret ³adnie skomponowany z w³a¶ciwie rozmytym t³em. Workshop dobrze uzupe³nia wersjê oryginaln±. Pozdrawiam.

Bardzo fajne. Dobrze dales z GO. Nawet fajnie kadorwane. Dalbym chyba mu troszke wiecej miejsca z przodu a mniej z tylu. A moze? Wiesz co? Dales mi troche odwagi i wrzuce zdjecie ktore bylo kadrowane w bardzo podobnym stylu. Dzieki!

Very nice, J the way this Gonzo guy pops right out of the frame at us with enough visibility in the background to say "streets of Porto".
I lkike this one a lot.

Hi Jerzy...gonzo in the Milan dialect (but is diffused also in the whole Italy) means stupid man!
in any case good shot, the thing that i like more is the background, crwoded of objects and colours. and a beautiful light.
excellent also the old man.

i don't know if you know Dulce Pontes. if you like fado...she's the singer!
we went to see an her concert 2 years ago in Milan ...fantastic!

Nice blurred background, itneresting candid shot of this man. HOwever the shadow on his face distrubs me a bit.

Zdjêcie rewelacyjnie kontrastowo-kolorowe. Podobnie dobre, jak dla mnie nawet lepsze to w WS. Mocno nasycony kolor i ³adny, widoczny ju¿ bokeh - to bardzo lubiê. Wola³bym jednak, by Gonzo wchodzi³ w kadr ni¼li wychodzi³ z niego.

I can recognize the place, because of the redish tile façade. I don't know Porto that very well, but Ribeira is definately the place to go, if you don't have much time. I agree with you - this face is a very Portuguese one! Good shot, with the scene in the back well balanced in the blurring. The light is of course, very nice and made a beautiful game of light and shadow in the image, including his face. Good work, J.

Bardzo fajne ujęcie, Jurku! Naturalne i ciekawe, dobrze umiejscowione w kontekście, można sobie wiele wyobrazić. Fajne, mocne i modelujące światło, a tytuł bardzo trafiony.

An excellent potrait from the streets of Porto. The DoF is excellent and i do prefer him in profile agasint that white umbrella. I love the light that just illumintes part of his face.

Obaliles kanony niewzruszone i swietosci fotograficzne tym zdjeciem poszargales.
Dwa kroki do tylu i gonzo z berecikiem bylby absolutnie niewidoczny bo bookeh za malo bookehowaty i wessał by kolorystyczne i natlokiem detali pierwszy plan. Dwa kroki do przodu i gonzowaty nochal jest doskonale widoczny, bo bialy parasol stworzyl tlo doskonałe.
Ale za to 'wychodzi' ze zdjecia!!!
A cholera z nim, niech wychodzi... Przepisy sa po to zeby je lamac.

nice shot but two regrets for me in this one jerzy : he is almost going out of the frame, and his face is in the dark.. otherwise i love the colors and the BG

Hi J - i think I would have tightened the framing on this one a little top and left - to remove one or two distractions but also to shift his position in the frame a little too - but essentially you have caught the profile of your main subject so well - fantastic candid portrait - really nice work on the central character.

wiem ze chciales opowoedziec o Gonzo, ale dla mnie tlo tego zdjecia najabrdziej mnie "bierze", taka ciepla czerwonawa impresja na temat portugalskich miast, ale Gonzo jest swietnie wkompoinowany w tę impresję, i wlasnie te jego ustawienie bokiem, wyeksponowanie przez glebie super rozklada zdjecie na 2 tematy.
