Serra da Estrela
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Serra da Estrela is the highest mountain in Portugal´s continental mainland (1993m), as the highest is Pico in Azores archipelago. More than half of its area is located above an altitude of 700m and this particular place is located at around 1500m.
Serra da Estrela is also the source of the rivers Mondego, Zęzere and Alva.
This photo was taken just after the sunset, while a warm light flooded the sky, contrasting with the cold tones. It's very, very rare to get such a still water on this location, as the wind always blows too hard, which makes this moment a kind of rarity.
I hope you enjoy!
PS: I appologise for the 500px larger side and watermark in the frame, but some unauthorized use has happened before in other websites (including mine) |

There are some wonderful colours and reflections in this composition, Joel, but the small size that you have posted this at makes it a bit hard to appreciate its full beauty. Nevertheless an impressive shot. Cheers . . . David

Joel, great shot with beautiful colours and beautiful subtle symmetry through the reflections in the water. A pity it's a bit small though. Thanks, Frans
As always, not only a good technical photo, but as well very eye-catching. Lovely colour scheme, nice vertical composition with the rule of the thirds beeing really effective, and of course the foreground with true impact.
I'm a keen admirer of your work, since I've seen some of your photos winning some contests in "Foto Digital" a couple of years ago. I would be very proud if you were kind enough to take a look at my first posts here, and left any comment.
