Photographer’s Note
Another one of my one country for a change
This was taken in the Sintra - Cascais National Park, 20km from Lisbon. Sintra it’s one of the most beautiful places in the world and if you visit Portugal you definitely should not miss it. It was a favourite hang out for many romantic poets, including Lord Byron (I think it was him who wrote that when god created the world he was so pleased with his work that he kissed it, and the kiss became Sintra).
There is a special atmosphere in Sintra, a mix of melancholy and fairy tale.
You can also eat the best pastries in the world, here. They are called “travesseiros” and you can get them at the “Piriquita” pastry shop, in the village center.
I often do trekking and hiking on weekends and sometimes organize hikes for groups. This photo was taken in one of those weekend hikes. Sintra has a microclimate and even if it’s sunny in Lisbon and Cascais it can be misty and rainy there, and it’s at its most beautiful in this kind of weather. In this particular day it was rather misty and it almost rained. The sun was trying to get through the fog and some beams of sunlight barely illuminated the dense woods.

Olá Ricardo
It looks moe like Amazonia than Portugal. I like the soft, diffuse, lighting & sunbeams. Good color, & okay sharpness. Parabens!

Hello Ricardo,
This is a good nature shot, there are a lot of beautiful shades of green. You managed a lot of details for a photo against the light. The rays of light give a lot drama to the image.
Well done.

Fernando

Hi Ricardo! How are you doing ? I was diving into your pictures and comments and remember so neatly the sensations you transmit both with the image and text regarding the charming Sintra , still remind queijadas , the wood heading up to peninha and the Palace (weird palace but with an astounding panoramica) , the sensation , microclimated of thinking it is not Portugal and maybe could be Ireland or Scotland , humid atmosphere , predominant green with assorted vegetation , remember Tuias (strange trees reborn from roots ), , modernist architecture , Hans Christian Andersen house , Quinta de Regaleira ....a Paraiso ...and this picture helps to recall those feelings , close my eyes and imagine scent , smells , noises od nature , that stream of luminosity and green and this , just closed to Lisboa from Rossío if in train , the ocean on your feet . I really fell in love with Sintra .
Abraçoes e bom fin de semana !

Ricardo,
Muito bem tomada essa fotografia. Parece que foi tomada aqui numa floresta perto da minha casa. Como se diz aqui no Brasil, na gíria, "está supimpa".
