A little side street near the centre of the lovely small Algarve town of Alcantarilha, here looking northward to the tower of the Church of Nossa Senhora da Conceição which has, as an annexe on its eastern side, its famous "Chapel of Bones" or Capela dos Ossos.
For those who like maps, you can look at this map and, if you drag the little yellow man down to the red cross and pan around, you can see this church tower and also take a "virtual walk" or drive through the narrow streets of the lovely little place.

Hello John ,
I'm especially interested by this picture , because it reminds me one of the pictures that i've taken in Algarve , in a street of Lagos (you can find it in my travelogue "Algarve") .
A typical street of a portuguese town , with the perspective to the Church and a fine orange house on the right .
Excellent framing and exposure .

Very imposing and impressive view, and very strong bold colors, this has that effect of feeling like I could climb inside and go exploring down this street! Fine architecture in the tower, and I love the contrast of the yellow building on the right against the blue sky. Really nice, thanks for sharing.
All the best

Ciao e buon fine settimana

You chose a very nice angle this gives a lot depth and perspective.
I like the yellow wall as contrast against the white tower in background.

I love this picture. I will use it as a reference to photograph narrow streets. They are often picturesque, but difficult to photograph, because one side most of time is in the shade. You showed us it can be done perfectly.

Jolie composition exploitant bien cette petite ruelle conduisant notre regard vers le clocher de l'église.

an irresistible composition this with a sweeping curve that just draws us in. A shot that epitomises the character and beauty of little towns like this, with steep walls and narrow pavement-less streets, and of course amazing little churches, that are hidden away. This shot benefits from the superb light management and of course the contrast of colours on the walls and the distant white church. Attractive and wonderful imagery!
Enjoy your Sunday - B.

Ciao caro Giovanni
Ooh I like this, and the light is just so different from tour usual Scottish scenes, I had to look twice to check that the photo was one of yours. The curve of the road combines well with the vertical frame and exalts the perspective. Wonderful vivid colours and great light management where the bright sky and shaded areas of the FG could have caused you problems, but you overcame that easily. Nice job!

Lovely little street here, so void of any human sign that it has a wonderful tranquil mood in it. The yellow house contrast so beautifully with the sky.
have a great sunday

This is a lovely little street, the colours are beautifully rendered and I like the way the brilliant yellow wall is balanced by the sliver of roof tiles adjacent to the clock tower. Good depth and detail and you composition definitely invites me to take a walk through the frame. Nicely done. Warm regards rosemary

You have controlled us, as would a funnel transporting water; the leads are so strong! The journey is not disappointing, with snake-like patterns on the road and charming buildings either side. I just could not imagine anyone choosing to paint houses in our town with such vibrant colours!
The clock tower is a pleasing focal point to reward us at the end of the street.
Have a great day,

you couldn't have picked a better day here!
look at that light, look at those colors!
there's even a hint of green at the top of the church tower.
love the architecture and the atmosphere. the only thing missing is that classic lady in red walking the streets :)
I'm always looking for her but she seldom presents herself lol

great composition, I like how you have used the narrow street here, the houses are getting narrower. The vertical perspective is perfectly straight. There are plenty of diagonals and the road which all lead the eye to the church. Altogether the geometry is the highlight here plus of course there are plenty of decorative details like the windows which add a nice touch here.
Excellent work, very well spotted!
