Ilha de Cabanas
Cabanas is a freguesia of greater Tavira and borders the Ria Formosa nature reserve. This reserve forms a major part of the Sotavento coast. The typical barrier island / lagoon landscape of the reserve came into being due to earth quake and tsunami of 1755 (the same one that destroyed Lisboa and other cities). One of the six barrier islands and its facilities is displayed here: Cabanas island. To reach its beautiful ‘blue flag’ beach with its comprehensive facilities, you can take a little ferries (sloops) or taxi boats. A touristic site about Cabanas is here.
A picture of the beach facilities of the neighboring barrier island: Ilha de Tavira-Barril.
This is the third one of the Portuguese beach culture mini-series.
The Photoshop CS6 work stream: altered the saturation, contrast, curves and levels for the whole pic and some elements separately, using different layers, blended the layers, applied the high pass filter (4,4 px, hard light, opacity 80%),added the signature frame, resized and did a gentle USM (0,5px, 8%).
My sympathy goes to the people that suffered due to the fires that last week raged in the northern part of Tavira, destroying amongst others a major part of Vale d’Asseca and the Pego do Inferno and its parque infra structure.

nice the view of the place with the turists to make a little slalom to go to cisit the blue flag beaches when in Greece the equivalent beaches are in your feet.
Excellent the light and the colour management of the image.
Have a good afternoon,Danos
PS the links you mention in your note are not works

Hello Bert ,
Les Portugais sont spécialistes de ce genre d'escaliers d'accès aux plages . Beau cliché , bien cadré et contrasté .

I have learned a lot about this region from your interesting notes, which accompanied the photograph. I have only visitd the Algarve once and learned nothing of this region.
You have composed the shot really well, using different horizontal layers, which are nicely connected by natural links.
The high pass filter has given a sharp vibrance to the shot which is very effective.
My warm regards,

Hi Bert, How are you? very strange construction on the beach and you notice its graphic potential. I like this big 'Z'. Is it a protection of the dunes? The island seem very narrow. Essential here the inclusion of the row of tourists on the platform, waiting for the boats. Stunning sharpness and nice colours. Fine shot.
Have a nice week

Another very nice beach shot from Portugal. All the people make the scene very vivid and the contruction in the photo is a bit fascinating and you wonder if it is used for larger boat than are seen here. Wonderful colours and excellent sharpness. TFS and have a fine day!

Pracht werk Bert, bedankt.
