Photographer's Note
This is a part of the monument of discoveries (padrao dos descobrimentos) in Belem, northern Lisboa. On the top right of the monument there is Henrique o navegador. The monument was finally erected in 1960 and now overlooks the Tejo river shore and the Belem area. The monument is a tribute to the history of discoverers of Portugal like Vasco da Gama. I borrowed the title "Héroes del mar" from Portugals national anthem. It was just starting to get dark and the moon was showing up...

Hello Franz,
wonderful composition and framing. The upward point of view and the close up on the first two figures of the monument, the superb clarity, the great management of the lovely evening light, the delightful colours and contrasts, the placement and brightness of the moon in the composition, all make this a marvellous and suggestive picture. Well done and thank you!
All the best,
Ourania

Perfect framing to this shot, Franz. You've captured the themes of Portuguese exploration well, and the light and setting are perfectly moody, with a nice soft light cast on the statues themselves and the moon breaking up the darkening sky. Well captured.
