Photographer's Note
This is a view from one of the famous squares in the historic center of Guimarães , The S. Tiago Square.
The Santiago Square is believed to be the earliest settlement in Guimarães.
It was founded by the Frankish knights who came with Count Dom Henrique, the father of Portugal’s first king.
Legend says the square is named after St John (São Tiago), who brought an image of the Virgin Mary here and placed it in a pagan temple.
Surrounded by beautiful restored 16th-19th century houses with wooden balconies, it has a gothic shrine housing a cross in the centre (in the image).
The 17th century chapel dedicated to the apostle was demolished in the 19th century.
Come to have a drink in this “Praça”... perhaps, humm, a glass of the famous “Vinho Verde” from the region -;)very cool of course...:)

Ola dear Rui
I really like the keystoning effect of the wide-angle lens. Lovely details to show of the characteristic architecture and cobblestones. A very cosmopolitan place, thanks for sharing it.
