Photographer’s Note
Hi TE friends
This is my first picture about portuduese churches.
Despite the ISO 1600, there aren't so much noise. I used a banister to support the camera because is not allowed to use tripod.
I hope you like it and I whish you a nice weekend.
The Igreja de São Roque (Church of Saint Roch) in Lisbon was the earliest Jesuit church in the Portuguese world, and one of the first Jesuit churches anywhere. It served as the Society’s home church in Portugal for over 200 years, before the Jesuits were expelled from that country. After the 1755 Lisbon Earthquake, the church and its ancillary residence were given to the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa (the Charity House of Lisbon) to replace their church and headquarters which had been destroyed. It remains a part of the Casa today, one if its many heritage buildings.
The Igreja de São Roque was one of the few buildings in Lisbon to survive the Earthquake relatively unscathed. When built in the 16th century it was the first Jesuit church designed in the “auditorium-church” style specifically for preaching. It contains a number of chapels, most in the Baroque style of early 17th century. The most notable chapel is 18th-century Chapel of St. John the Baptist (Capela de São João Baptista), a project by Nicola Salvi and Luigi Vanvitelli constructed in Rome of many precious stones and disassembled, shipped and reconstructed in São Roque; at the time it was reportedly the most expensive chapel in Europe.

Nice reflections in the polished wood at right with good linear perspective & superb warm cold colour contrasts between the blue & yellow. Excellent sharpness & diffused light. Tfs!

Oi Aires
E o trabalho do artista?
Adorei a foto com todos esses detalhes belos. parabéns.
Abraços

Hello Aires,
I think that ISO-1600 for taking shots indoors (i.e. churches or metro stations) is quite ok, provided that the exposure is correct.
I find this shot excellent for an interior photo! And most of all I like the perspective; you chose a very good POV, and the fact that you placed the camera on the banister (with the glossy banister visible and having some colourful reflections on it) only adds the "right" effect to the photo :)
Good colours and contrast, very good light management. I like it :)
Warm regards,
Elena

Hi Aires,
it may sound funny but when we were in this church with my wife we were talking about you.
The church is marked in the tourist guidebooks as an important one, but the exterior is not that spectacular as the interior. So being there I was wondering if you know about the church because people living in a place quite often don't use a guidebook and may not notice interesting places if they are not attractive from a distance. So I was hoping I will show the church first.
But I have to say that I am really impressed with your POV and I think it is much much better than my shot so I won't even try uploading my picture.
The church is really pretty. We visited it in the morning just before leaving to Vasco Da Gama shopping centre...
Great job, TFS
