Photographer’s Note
Hi TE friends
I' decided post the second picture of this known place an create a theme for the Jacarandas Trees
I hope you appreciate It !
Included in the area of Chiado is the Largo do Carmo, with its jacarandas. In this square, stand the ruins of the Convento do Carmo, built in the century XIV, which is currently installed the Archaeological Museum of Caramel.
In front of the convent is the Chafariz do Carmo (1771), supplied by the Águas Livres Aqueduct, through the gallery of Loreto.
Half wall with the convent, is the Quarter of Caramel, owned by the National Republican Guard that had a very important role during the April 25, 1974, having been chosen by Marcello Caetano to flee the revolution, and it was the main stage of the revolution, as the site of the surrender of New State to the military. On the other side of the convent, found the former Palace Valadares, building that has had several uses. This building stands in the place where was founded the first portuguese university in the time of D. Dinis, before being transferred to Coimbra.
Among the Convento do Carmo and Valadares Palace, stands the gate of access to the Santa Justa Elevator, which binds to the Largo do Carmo Lower Pombalina, including the Street of Gold.
In this large, we find the Church of the Third Order of Our Lady of Caramel, which is usually unnoticed by a normal building of housing. In the same building, was founded the current Montepio General in the nineteenth century.
This broad has become well known for its terraces, besides being the scene of several shootings, both of fiction films or documentaries, films and commercials.
The Largo do Carmo is located in the parish of Sacramento.
Today the whole area is very well preserved, restaurants, small cafés are abundant, and even music and traditional dance are performed here during the summer

Bonjour Aires

Hi Aires,
this place is lovable, I wish to visit Lisbon since a long time, nice colors of nature, beautiful architecture, good POV and light. Probably there's a mistake in location description (Kisbon)

Bonjour Aires,
Best regards.
Daniel.

Hola Aires.
You did a good work with a non easy light and you show us a nice and very interesting subject with a good note. Maybe the composition is not the best one, but the whole photo works well.
