I photographed this photo in the Square of the City where the City council of Lisbon is situated.
Lisbon, is a city of valleys and hills opened on the river. The mild climate, the abundance of fauna and flora will have determined its occupation for primitive peoples. From the hill of the Castle, the city was growing. Fenícios, Gregos and Cartaginenses had established colónias here. The Romans had consolidated its port and piscatory vocation; the polish it integrated in the imperial itinerary, developed itself. Numerous buildings had been constructed, nominated fórum, temples, spa, palaces, villages and a theater.
With the barbarous occupations of the Alanos, Suevos and Visigodos urbe entered in decline. The bloom appeared with the Muslim occupation (719-1147); constructed Moura wall . The Moorish Lisbon developed with the construction of new quarters, and extrawalls, in one fabric spontaneous and inside anarchical of sinuous and narrow streets, in still existing a labyrínthic passage in the Quarter of Alfama.

Uma boa foto. A Praça do Munícipio vista dum ângulo menos habitual.
Fizeste bem incluir a Rua do Arsenal prolongando-se à esquerda.

Hi Gonçalo, this is the Square between "Cais do Sodre" and "Praça do Comercio". I pass many times by the Municipality building but I have never thought about to take the photo of this beautiful square. Your photo, taken from a very convenient perspective, reflects very nice the building facades, especially the cobble-stones which are peculiar to Lisbon. Best regards, Tolga
