Today I decided to do a break in the colourful pictures.

I hope you like this black and white picture.

SANTUÁRIO DE NOSSA SENHORA DO CABO ESPICHEL
Cape Espichel stands out on even the Costa Azul for the beauty of its natural surroundings. Its original function was defence but in times of greater peace and security a sanctuary dedicated to Our Lady of the Cape was built. The church is flanked by a series of royal dependencies that provided and cared for the pilgrims that would head there. Built in 1701, the building is in baroque style and attributed to architect João Antunes.

On the interior, there are pieces of important artistic value including the retable of the main altar in Portuguese baroque containing a statue of Our Lady of the Cape the ceiling, painted in perspective (carried out in 1740 by the painter Lourenço da Cunha) and the 16th century work by the Master of Lourinhã in the sacristy depicting the Saints James and Anthony. Of further note is the throne on the main altar destined for royal visits.

A few meters from Sanctuary, there is the small, 15th century Ermida da Memória (Chapel of Memory), predating the Sanctuary itself. Its interior is covered in 18th century tile panels that depict the legend of the Lady of the Cape. According to tradition, the Virgin appeared to an elderly couple in 1410.

Surrounded by the cliffs of Cabo Espichel cape, Lagosteiros Beach is a site of great natural beauty.

Accessed down a path, much of this Beach is covered in pebbles with the main attraction being the fossilised dinosaur footsteps that are to be found in the surrounding rocky cliffs.

très belle compo NB cette perspective sur cette belle place la prondeur de champs, avec la coirx et son ombre, grnaidose compo.

Olá Aires!
Um dos meus sitios preferidos a sul de Lisboa.
Uma foto a preto e branco com excelente definição.
Gosto como aparece na esquerda o lado com mais sombra nas casas e o céu mais claro e do lado direito o contrário.
No próximo mês vou ter um casamento aqui nesta igreja, espero ter tempo para umas fotos. :)

Olá Aires,

I am no fan of black and white picture, perhaps through the age, formely we works always in black and white, this is long time ago.
Perhaps one advice Dear Aires,,place a second image in color than can everyone make a choice.
Sharpness and clarity be superb.
Nice detailed image.

Como é que está este santuario no que diz respeito a manutenção? Da última vez que lá estive estava quase em ruína.
Gosto da opção P&B mas penso que podias ter dado um contraste mais forte.
