Photographer’s Note

Hi TE friends

Our TE friend Sacavem (Filipe) gave me an important information about this beautiful building. It's not a Chapel but the House of Water. Thanks Filipe.

The House of Water is located in Cape Espichel, Municipality of Sesimbra, parish of Castelo, Distrito de Setúbal. It was built in 1770 by the King Joseph I, who that year went there on pilgrimage.

It has hexagonal form, covered with half-dome in orange finishes by lanternim, talon environment; wedges apilastrados mark the six faces. It is preceded by several sets of stairs.

Inside, a source "Rocaille" in marble, with the sculpture like Berniniano grounds, banks of stone along the walls, the remains of an ashlar tile (Factory Bethlehem) with scenes of hunting and scenes alluding to taper

The Aqueduct (in WS)

Aqueduct that serves to house the Water
The Water House received the water brought by aqueduct from the Azóia, the nearest village, for a length of approximately 2.5 kilometers. Had a well and two tanks to give the animals to drink.
