Boats in front of Lisboa Photo

Photographer’s Note

Boats are a fascinating subject to me, but I haven't explored it very much. Here we have some, with the Belem area of Lisboa as backdrop - you can see the blurred silhouette of Padrão dos Descobrimentos (Monument to the Discoveries) [wikipedia, trekearth: 1, 2] in the distance, next to the first candle.

Trafaria is a village that despite its proximity to Lisboa and the many ugly suburbs of the South bank of the river Tejo (Tagus), manages to keep some of the charm of a fishing village, although I guess that fishing lost much of its past importance to the life of the village.

Lindo trabalho, amigo. A cidade atrás ambém está muito boa. Lisboa já tem uns 800.000 habitantes? Acho que ela é um pouco maior que Juiz de Fora.

To me, boats are very good photography subjects because they are always near to water body or sand which can always be excellent backdrop to contrast with color and where good weather can be a plus factor.

You chose the boats in the FG and rightly so, the color and lines of the boats really make a superb draw of the eye especially under the bright sun light. Very sharp and good clarity detail of the boats. Shot in a great environmental setting.

Hello Jose, that's really wonderful with the blue sky with the cotton-like clouds and also the elegant boat in the foreground. Yellow colour is quite dominant in this photo which makes the composition an eye-catching one. On the other side of Rio Tejo, I can differentiate Torres do Restelo, Palácio Nacional da Ajuda and Padrão dos Descobrimentos. Congratulations.

When I must choose between the three picture I prefer the WS II as best of the three.

Strong presentation, all three of them. Good to use this one as mainpost because i like this one most. Better balance and a great play with boats and heavy sky. An image with high potential, really nice work.

De yo tener que seleccionar una de las tres fotos seria esta la cual presenta un marco mas amplio dando una buena visión de los botes y la ciudad de Lisboa al frente acompañada del magnifico cielo nublado. Excelentes colores, POV y claridad además de muy buena definicion.

Hola Jose,
Una composición muy artística y original en la que destacan los colores azules.
Me gusta mucho como el barco divide el paisaje dándole gran profundidad a la imagen.
Seguramente la próxima semana vaya a Plasencia y probablemente haga una visita a tu país a alguna población fronteriza, tenía pensado ir por la zona de la Sierra de la Estrella, ya veremos.

Plus Portugais que ça , cela n'existe pas ....! cela me donne la nostalgie de ce beau pays qui doit avoir bien changé depuis que je l'ai découvert ( dans les années 1980 ... )

En tous cas , une bien belle image ... fais attention , il y a bien un organisme de Tourisme quelque part qui pourrait te la piquer !!!

Una toma con fuerte poder compositivo. Los diversos elementos guardan mucho equilibrio, el ambiente es cálido y las tonalidades producen un agradable sensación.

Es una foto que yo consideraría especial por que nos permite detenernos con nuestra mirada en varios planos del escenario, con el fin de apreciar cada detalle. Buen encuadre, desde un acertado punto de vista.

voici un bien joli ciel comme on en trouve pratiquement qu'en bord de mer, il provoque des ombres mais il faut savoit attendre les éclaircies et on est alors récompensés.
Superbes couleurs fortes et vives, caractéristiqueds de la région dans cette scène qui ne manque pas de profondeur.

I like the colour palette and the appealing lines in the boat design!
The subject is well framed and recorded with excellent details, the colours are well reproduced...
The low point of view making the sky a partly backdrop is a nice touch!

Blue-yellow stripes are really eye catching on their traditional blue bodies. Your way adding them front of Lisboa view is worked very well. Complementary post #2 is my favorite.

Pela miniatura, sem reparar na localização, pensei que fosse no porto de pesca de Setúbal ou Sesimbra, por exemplo. Conseguiste, com pouco "material" (digamos assim), dar essa ideia dos tradicionais portos de pesca. As nuvens e a cidade ao fundo ajudam a dar um certo dramatismo.

Ah les barques potugaises et leurs couleurs vives! Elles semblent être bichonnées comme des monuments historiques!
J'aime beaucoup ton point de vue de la barque bien nette, et le quartier de Belem à l'arrière-plan, avec le "Padrão dos Descobrimentos".

La lumière ainsi que l'expo ont bien mis en valeur les couleurs, surtout celles des bateaux de pêche...qui bien placés ont donné de la profondeur à l'image. J'aime voir le quartier de Bélem au fond sous de gros nuages laissant apparaitre un peu de ciel bleu.
