Photographer’s Note

Short stay in Sesimbra on our afternoon circular trip Lisboa-Setúbal-Sesimbra-Cabo Espichel-Lisboa, and we just had time for a stroll along the beach.

Sesimbra is picturesque fishing port nestled at the foot of the hills of Arrabida. That late afternoon I was struck by phenomenal peaceful atmosphere not typical for popular seaside resorts I know. Families having their last walk before dinner and only activity to be seen were young lads playing football on a yellow sandy beach and a few others practicing surfing in shallow waters...

It seemed like the whole place was switching into a lower gear enjoying the very last rays of slow-setting sun.

My first reaction was that it was a brave fellow surfing without a wetsuit at Scarborough! ;D Excellent action shot with perfect timing and in good evening light. I really love the wake he's left and your fast shutter speed has frozen the water to perfection.

I have a simillar shot in my Cape Verde gallery.
You had fantastic light here and managed a great shot with good timing.
Excellent timing and good framing.I like a lot the surfer`s pose.

Olá Rob, great action shot here. The timming was excellent and that arm completely stretched enhances the splendid diagonal to the right corner. The splash of water across the image gives the rest of the fun that this picture gives. These guys by the shore are much nicer subjects to photograph than the 'real' surfers, since we can be closer to them.
