Yesterday I did a small trip south of the Tagus River and ended the day in Seixal. The tide was low and could see the bottom of the bay. This is the famous abandoned ship, photographed by many of our TE friends
I hope you like it !
Situated in the Setúbal Peninsula, Seixal city has its highlight on its beautiful natural Bay that led into a great bound with the Tagus river throughout the centuries.
Supposedly, the toponym "Seixal" comes from a type of smooth stone (“seixo“) usually found in rivers, being the city named after these stones.
In fact, the Seixal Bay has been used since the Roman occupation period, and later was of extreme importance during the 14th and 15th centuries for the Discoveries Period success, with the setting of the shipyards that would build and mend boats that would discover much of the modern world. The “Núcleo Naval de Arrentela” is a great testimony of this important historical mark, and here one can appreciate several models and traditional Tagus river embarkations and visit the factory where the boats are built.

Le bâteau coloré parait tout petit auprès du grand qui a pris sa retraite. Dans ma région ils sont légion au bord de la Rance.
Merci pour le partage et bonne journée.

Bonjour, cher ami Aires,
La mémoire de la plupart des hommes est un cimetière abandonné, où gisent sans honneurs des morts qu'ils ont cessé de chérir.
Une superbe image s'apparentant à une peinture.

these old ships are always beautiful, one has to think of their past. I love the contrast between the dark large one and that rather shabby but colourful small boat.

The contrast between the small boat and the wreck is quite remarkable. You have framed the shot well and the soft light suits the subject well. As Philippe says, the image is very reminiscent of a painting, perhaps by someone like Turner.

it is really a great composition. Like the abandoned boat. The colourful small boat at FG added contrast to it. Great light and depth. Excellent work. Tfs.

Bom dia Aires
Belíssima. Essa foto remete a nostalgia. Imagine quantas viagens o barco fez e quantas histórias aconteceram nas idas e vindas dele. Amei.

nice the snapshot with the abandon fishing boat to decay on the ground. The little and colourful one looks like as a toy in front of it.Excellent the placement in the frame, as the city of Seixal on the backdrop.
Have a good afternoon,Danos

A nice composition despite a little bit sad...
The flashy colors of the little boat enhance the composition

Hello Aires, The big abandoned boat gives the impression that it may be a relic or monument from the great years of the Portuguese exploration era, the days of Magellan & Vasco da Gama. I like the inclusion of the small boat, adds contrast, colour, interest & depth. Interesting image with impact, compliments.
