Photographer’s Note

Between Setúbal and Sesimbra lies the Arrábida Natural Park, a beautiful protected area covered with pines and rich Mediterranean vegetation, including many rare species.

A tiny fishing village, now attracting increasing numbers of foreign visitors, Portinho da Arrábida is idyllically situated in a small sandy cove below the south side of the Serra da Arrábida, which here falls steeply down to the sea.

Crystal clear waters, reaching 17°C in high summer, make this an excellent spot for scuba-diving and underwater fishing.

Taken in the late afternoon, from the road connecting Setubal & Sesimbra, some ±500m above the place. To see the village itself, click here for our Paulo Melo last year's capture.
