Photographer’s Note

Tomorrow, June 10th, it is the Dia de Portugal, that is the National Day of Portugal, celebrating also the poet Camões [*] (XVIth century) and the Portuguese emigrants scattered all over the world.
At least since the Era of Maritime Discoveries (XVth century), the Portuguese have been a nation of emigrants.
Nowadays Portugal is also a nation of immigrants, who contribute to the wealth of the nation, like in other countries.
We can celebrate Portugal's National Day with this group of flags, which includes the nations created by the Portuguese expansion of the XV and XVIth centuries. These flags were in the Paivas park, municipality of Seixal, during the Municipal Day of the Migrant Community. The foreign flags are those of the nations with more immigrants in Seixal, by alphabetical order.
The flags, from left to right, are: Portugal, European Union, Municipality of Seixal, Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, China, Guinea-Bissau, India, Mozambique, Russia, São Tomé & Principe, Timor-Leste (East Timor), Ukraine, and the civil parish of Amora.
Location of Paivas park in WikiMapia: 38.6213426, -9.1157287.
