Photographer’s Note

Picture taken in the little village i live (Alcochete). This village it's near Lisbon, on the other side of Tagus River.

The pillory at a county´s chief town was always an extremely importante site, for it was there that justice was made in public and that the convicts destiny was decided.

The pillory have been rebuild in 1955 by the local autority, and the older one it's now in the village museum.

I'm also posting a workshop on this one with the 4 faces of the base of the pillory and their inscriptions
