The Sado River (pron. IPA: ['saðu]) is a river in Southern Portugal, and is one of the major rivers in the country. It flows in a South/North direction through 175 km from its springs in the Caldeirão hills before entering the Atlantic Ocean in an estuary in the city of Setúbal.

In Setúbal, its estuary is famous for being the habitat for a rare species of dolphin exclusively found in this region; there are 31 members of the species, of which all have been named (2007).

In its course, it crosses the city of Alcácer do Sal.

It is dammed in several places chiefly for agricultural reasons, such as growing rice, maize (corn) and other vegetables.

O Sado (antigamente chamado Sádão) é um rio português, que nasce a 230m de altitude, na Serra da Vigia e percorre 180 quilómetros até desaguar no oceano Atlântico junto a de Setúbal.

No seu percurso passa por Alvalade e por Alcácer do Sal, sendo o seu estuário a separar Setúbal de Tróia. É dos poucos rios da Europa que corre de Sul para Norte, tal como o Rio Mira (Odemira, Alentejo), que é de menor dimensão.

No estuário do Sado habita uma população de golfinhos (roaz-corvineiro), que tem resistido à invasão do seu habitat pelo homem (tráfego marítimo para os estaleiros da Mitrena, para o porto de Setúbal e decorrente da pesca e da doca de recreio, além do ferry-boat de ligação entre margens).
