Photographer’s Note

My last photo of this village, river that we see is the river Sado. The River Sado is born in the Mountain of Vigia, close to Beja, and covers alentejanas plains throughout 180kms in direcção the North, emptying together the Setúbal. Its estuary is formed next to Alcácer of the Salt, very fertile wet zone, where the landscape is marked by the rice fields, cultivated in trays, and for the nests of stork-whites in the towers of the churches or the ranks of electricidade. This elegant bird, always chooses the places highest to nidificar, and is one of more than the 200 species of birds that look the Estuary of the Sado, that stops its protecção was declared Natural Reserve and zone of special protecção.
