Nabão River in Tomar Photo

Photographer’s Note

The Nabão is a river in Portugal. It rises in Ansião and passes through the city of Tomar before joining the river Zêzere — a course of about 66 km. It was known to the Romans as Nabanus. Before entering the territory of Tomar it has his biggest source in a place called Agroal.
The river is associated with the legend of Santa Iria (Saint Irene).

Está uma vista bonita, bem composta, mas os verdes parecem-me um pouco acinzentados.

A propósito da Santa Iria, na nota, não sei bem donde foram buscar essa associação. Eu tinha ideia que Santa Iria estaria associada ao Tejo, dando origem ao nome de pelo menos duas terras: Santarém e Santa Iria de Azóia.

Hi Paulo, one of my favourite towns in Portugal with its beautiful river banks. Nice PoV here. I haven't heard about the Santa Irene legend associated with the river. I will read about it.
