Photographer’s Note

Nowadays it's hard to find these small boats on the Tejo River. I found this one in Ribeira de Santarém, next to the old bridge that connects Santarém to Almeirim.

Some decades ago, not far from here, between Santarém and Vila Franca de Xira, there were some fishermen that lived inside boats like this, which they used to cover with canvas. It was definitely an old-fashioned lifestyle.

Ainda há barcos destes em Tancos e no Arripiado. Gosto desta. O sépia está bonito e a composição com a ponte lá atrás também. Muito boa. Sempre apareces no domingo?

Excellent POV, perspective and composition. Perfect depht of field. The great choice of b&w, along with some (not much) "grain" create a beautiful "retro" feeling! Congratulations!

Esta está um espectáculo, Pedro. Muito melhor que a minha vista lá de cima. E eu a queixar-me que Santarém estava mal representado...O preto e branco está excelente e gosto muito da composição com a sequência barco/cana/castelo/ponte.

Very nice composition. The lines, and shapes make for a very artistic looking photograph. I love the B&W. It has just the right amount of contrast, in just the right spots.
