[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
You may excuse me for this poor quality picture, but it's the town where I was born! (Coruche, province of Ribatejo, Portugal).
Today, I was going to post another photo of my theme Martin Luther King, but then I noticed this is my 300th post and this week it's my birthday. My 100th and 200th posts were both dedicated to the town where was born and lived most of my childhood. So, for this 300th post I chose my town again.
I have not many good pictures of Coruche. This is a view taken from a flight from Lisbon to London. It was my happiest sight during that flight :-) [the same flight of my photos New Airport of Lisbon? and Osterley Park]. This view is almost like this satellite image of Google Maps, but upside down.
In the workshop you have the original photo, just resized; that is, before I "cleaned" the airplane window in post-processing ;-) . I added labels for location.
Coruche is the main town in the valley of river Sorraia. It is a very old settlement. Portugal's first king, Dom Afonso Henriques, conquered it to the Arabs in 1166.
The lezírias (marshy lands, alluvial plains), mostly on the top of the image, are very fertile farming fields, that produce rice, maize, fruit, etc. Further away from the river, the charnecas (moors, heaths) produce so much cork that make the Coruche municipality the biggest cork producer in Portugal. Pela sua 300ª apresentação no TE, pela foto tão bem processada para nos propiciar esta bela visão aérea da sua cidade natal.
O ponto de vista é ótimo, você foi bastante hábil para bater a foto na hora certa!

Isso é que foi sorte, passar por Coruche num vôo para londres. Como todas as fotos tiradas de dentro de um avião esta tem também uns pequenos problemas. mas nada que impeçam de a apresentar para comemorar 300 fotos no TE e o teu aniversário que é no dia...?

uma foto cheia de motivos pra comemorar essa! Primeiro parabéns pela sua 300ª foto, um bocado né! Também pelo seu aniversário, desejo-lhe muito anos de vida saúde e prosperidade. Quanto a foto gostei dela e sorte o avião ter feita a curva justamente sobre ela e a janela estar limpa, o que é raro hoje em dia... parece ser uma cidade bem pequena essa, gosto dessas vistas aéreas, um belo trabalho seu!

Olá Francisco, com que então és Aquário como o meu ex-patrão e também como o meu pai! :) Parabéns por coincidires o teu aniversário com o post nº 300 e também 2º ano de colaboração no TE (por isso é que tens estado menos activo... ;-) A imagem não é perfeita, mas estou impressionado com a limpeza que lhe fizeste ao compará-la com o original em WS. Aliás, depois de ver o WS, esta está espectacular e com uma grande definição.

Olá Francisco,
Parabéns a triplicar, senão mesmo a quadruplicar. 300 fotos, 2 anos, aniversário propriamente dito, 3000 pontos! Eu sei que ligas aos pontos ainda menos que nós, mas estou certo que esses teus 3000 valem bem mais do que os meus 9000, já que tu não dás nenhuns.
Estás um mestre a "limpar" neblina! Uma foto interessante!

Hi Francisco, I want to congratulate you for your birthday and also for your 300th photo. I do not pay attention to the quality. Everybody knows it is quite difficult to take a good quality photograph from an aircraft, through its layered window. Weather conditions is another challenge. Thanks for sharing and happy birthday. Congratulations on your 300th post!! I continue to learn from each of your posts. Your PP work is stunning, I love your "cleaned the airplane," window comment. I can see why your love this lovely, verdant valley; it does look like a google map. The google link is great, it lets me place your home.

I see that you are are and Aquarian, like my son. A belated happy birthday.

Sorry I'm s;low responding. My parents have been quite sick, each requiring an emegency hospitialization. They both have Alzheimers and often can't remember a discission that occured moments ago; but their love for each other seems only to grow stronger. When I would take my Dad to visit my Mom in the hospital, he would wheel his chair as close as he could get, put both arms around her so he could rub her back while she would lay her head on his shoulder and smile with pleasure. I am so grateful to be raised with such love.
