Photographer’s Note
A diferent one, from this mini series of Crato.
On the outskirts of the town, there's an old factory of soap, a perfect place for storks, very common in this part of Alentejo. Some prefer the apartments on the top with a great view. But if you suffer from vertigo, you will chose the ground floor, of course. According to the information of Sofia in her post that shows another perspective of this building, "old people say that in the beginig of the century this factory burned before the inauguration!". May be the storks were responsable for the fire...
---------------
UPDATE - some of you refer the too dark chimney. I did a WS to make it more clear, but I didn't like the result on the rest of the image. You can check it out here

Hello Ricardo,
Excellent capture that has a little bit of everything. I looked at the top of the chimney for the stork at first. Sky provides a dramatic backdrop. But the chimney, stork and the wall make up a strange but attractive composition. Well-seen. Regards,
Hakan

HI Ricardo
This is a really dramatic shot with the chimney silhouetted against the sky and the stork in profile. The lighting looks tricky but is well handled, though there is noticeable noise in the sky. A really interesting image.

Hi Ricardo
This is a most interesting and unique shot - you were definitely at the right place at exactly the right time for this one. The tall stack and the clouds provide a perfect setting for the stork. Nice work and thanks for sharing. Gerald

Ricardo, I agree w/ Hakan, at first glance, I was looking for the stork on top of the smoke stack. It then led me down the ground floor showing a nicely silhouetted stork perched on its nest. Whats more, the wall on the left gave a good perspective leading us towards our feathered friend. Your note explains it all and I might say, you did a good job composing your subject. Cheers!

I love this composition with the chimney looking so tall on the edge of the frame, but of course the best part of this photo is the silhouette of the stork at the bottom. Too bad the lighting wasn't on the side of the chimney better because the red/orange color would have complimented the blue sky perfectly. Oh well, this is still nice and I love the clouds :)

Hi Ricardo.
The chimney, the buildings and the bird make an interesting composition and contrast in the photo. The graphism us good.
Well seen.

Hello Ricardo,
very well captured, not easy, vertical wide-angle shot. The light is well managed and the silhouette of the stork is very attractive and unusual to see in such a composition.
Well done and best wishes!

Smart composiiton with main actor seemingly hidden in the bottom. And impressive vertical element (chimney) and diagonal (wall). So - quite interesting composition.

Olá Ricardo,
several nice details and a pleasant composition. I like the stork standing on the roof, the long chimnney and the diagonal line of the wall. Together with the sky really nice. The texture of the wall left is excellent, but the chimney is a bit dark.

Great compo Ricardo!
We can really feel all the height of that chimney... and the picture also has a great sense of depth stretching to the far field in the back... so I would say this is unusually full of space, and geometry, and good light hitting the clouds from the right... very nice indeed!

Me gusta.
Un abrazo,
Josep

Ricardo,
I like a lot the contrasts in this one.
Shadows of the chimney and bird are superb, and so is the diagonal bright wall.
Nice job,

É incrível o ruído no azul do céu. A ISO 50...?

When I was living in Spain I saw storks al over Spain, the y say some of their nest can weigth until one ton and sometim they need to remove the nest because they can ruin the houses or churches.
This Storks are magnificencs and you can change the genter to: Humor (I like the second floor), the clouds are amazing give a extra plus to this picture.

Olá Ricardo,
i like your composition with the two lines, the vertical and the diagonal of the factory and the imposing sky.The stork adds life in your capture.Great the lights and the colours. The WS,with the brighter chimney is better than the dark one.Well done.

Hello Ricardo,
You made an excellent composition here!I think my shelf looking up to the sky, looking for a different shot.Like this one, which is a piece of art itself. And also has so wonderful light to enjoy it more. The chimney is the attraction here but the bird in the nest is a so nice bonus. My congratulations for the shot and for the idea!
Have a very fine weekend,

I don't think the dark chimney is a problem, but if you wanted to lighten it without affecting the rest of the image you could have done so by simply selecting (magnetic lasso tool would be the quickest and easiest way) the chimney and applying the changes to that area of the image only.
Like I said though, the darkness isn't really a problem, and I like how the stork is framed by the chimney and the building on either side. Is that another nest on top of the chimney?
Good work Ricardo.
Cheers,
Ben

Hello Ricardo,
That is a funny one!
The stork is supposed tp be on the top of the big one, what is it with this bird, afraid of heights??
Well seen, well captured!

Ola Ricardo,
A minimalist industrial compo with the white wall balancing the verticality of the chimney... the bird in his nest is real icing on the cake!
Well spotted!

I like this better than the WS anyday. What you've done is a wide angle shot in a vertical format with the chimney & the stork at two different levels..not easy to do, but so well done! I can also see a nest at the top of the chimney! The diagonal of the wall on the left adds to the compo. Well done my friend

Probably came from Poland;)
I think the chimney may be a bit too blocked, but I like the way it dominates the photo, the stork being so overpowered despite it being the subject here. It says a lot about our influence on nature.

Hi again Ricardo,
This stork did not choose the place highest to make its nest!!! Indeed I prefer this photograph with the WS. In addition to the original point of view, the back-light plays its effect well. I will have perhaps removed electric wire. Thank you for the complementary photograph.
With my all friendships,

Hi Ricardo. Great photo. The silhouette of the stork, though small, dominates the scene and I don’t think the dark chimney is an issue. I love the composition, simple but strong. Nice work and thanks for sharing.
