Shadowed walls Photo

Photographer’s Note

Another one from the city of Crato, this time not from the cemetery (although a cross is still seen on the wall :) but from the streets of the historic center.
A man is descending, while other, seen from the back at a distance (left background) just arrived to the main square of Crato.
Everything was quite calm in this wednesday, 25 of April, National holiday to comemorate the end of a long dictactorship in Portugal. Everything was closed and not many people were on the streets, since many were on holidays, most problably visiting other touristic places of Portugal...more likely closer to the overcrowded coast and its beautiful beaches.
Some shadows were also making their everyday show on the walls.

a splendid lumiére which gives plays of shade on the frontage with the cross which indicates a church with with dimensions to us, beautiful color, a good post

ola ric,
this is good, ric, this image shows a great place in a creative manner - using shadows was a gorgeous idea, they look as if walking with that lonely stranger in the same place, together with him...or another interpretation - the shadows wait for him to come and then...to grab him, or to swollow him...

Hi Ricardo,
This place seems to have that old world charm, the sloping cobbled road, the spartan building. I like the use of two pedestrians giving a sense of depth.

Gostei da sombra dessa Igreja, apesar de ser um detalhe acho que é esse o assunto principal de sua foto! Bons contrastes de cores também!
Uma pena cidades belas como essa sofrer com esses fios expostos, o mesmo problema ocorre em muitas cidades históricas brasileiras também, falta vontade política pra resolver isso...

Ora aqui está a prova que as sombras também ajudam a fazer boas fotografias.
Se a sombra da cruz estivesse mesmo centrada por cima da porta, então seria perfeito.
Também gosto deste ponto de vista que acentua (?) a inclinação da rua. O triângulo de céu azul ajuda a dar vivacidade à imagem.

Olá Ricardo,
it s always interesting to see antoher house by its shadow. I like the light management and the excellent textures on the white wall. The upgoing view with the walker makes the perspective pleasant. Good sharpness.

Acho que as palavras do Jerzy exprimem bem o que quero dizer sobre esta. As sombras são realmente o que mais me apaixona nesta imagem. Excelente exposição, com um grande balanço entre luz e sombras. Está mesmo muito boa.

You got here the fine cool feel in this street with the sunny surroundings, all perfectly exposed and sunny colors, the perspective brings us along the main eyepulling man to spot someone else in the back. a pleasant sunny shot Ricardo

A quiet place to visit and relax.
I like the shadow of the cross, is very interesting how our cultures are so close.

The stones, in the street and the walls in yellow and with can tell us many things than hapens in this town.

Great use of shadows Ric. I like how you found this shadow of the cross. The man adds some interest to the photo, but I'm not sure I like the second person at the end of the lane. I might have been temped to crop out that small person on the edge of the frame. No, on second thought I like the other person. Perfect exposure.

The most important shadow is that cross....not only because its the most discernable but because of its symbolism and how it dominates this frame.Luckily this is pretty empty of people and other distracting elements bringing the whole frame together really nicely.

Hi Ricardo, i like how you have captured the wide angle approach here. The shadows reflected on the building adds a nice perspective. Your colours are well exposed and I also like how you have captured to the two people in your overall composition.

Esta é daquelas que não precise de PP, as cores naturais, em conjunto com a luz e sombras criam uma perfeita combinação.
Gosto muito da sombra da cruz na fachada da casa, e deste 'jovem d'outrora' a vaguear pela rua abaixo.

Além da bela compo, gosto da forma como captaste o ambiente de 'tarde de feriado numa vila alentejana' - rua praticamente deserta e um local com boina e de mão no bolso a passar despreocupadamente. Usaste muito bem as sombras e o tecnicamente está excelente (exposição, cores, nitidez, etc).

A splendid interplay of shadows on the facade. The man walking down the slope of the cobbled road, the dominating shadow of the cross on the white wall...the diagonals of the road & the roof...this is one superb composition my friend

'La Révolution des oeillets' it's how we called the end of the long dictatorship of Salazar...
The shadows with the 'indentation' of the wall and the cross makes me think of a church. There are nice colors, contrast, good inclusion of the man walking toward you and the one in BG giving a sense of distance.

una gran perspectiva en tu encuadre, la bella geometría de las diagonales que fugan hacia el fondo de la imagen funcionan muy bien, y el resultado gráfico es muy interesante.
Un gran trabajo con la exposición, me gusta la luz y las sombras en las paredes, así como la calidad de los colores y su saturación. La presencia de gente aporta el toque dinámico.

O jogo de luz e sombras está excelente nesta tua imagem. Não creio que tenha sido fácil chegar a este resultado mas, conseguiste uma imagem muitíssimo boa. Claro que aquele senhor completa a cena e claro que sem ele a mesma seria como que uma “natureza morta”!
Já agora, o que é que é ou foi esse edifício? Como tem uma janelas gradeadas e um brazão lá cima, deduzo que tinha uma certa importância quando foi construído.

um pov diferente onde a sombra faz um show à parte enquanto as belas fachadas lusas rebatem a luz e as cores. O personagem está bem posicionado
