Photographer’s Note
Here is another photo of this small town. It was shot on the same day of the my earlier posts of the place.
Despite of its small size, the town had some importance in the past and its name appears on several important events of the Portuguese History, mainly in the Medieval Age, because it was headquarters of the Portuguese section of the "Order of Knights of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem", also known as "Order of Malta" and "Order of the Hospital" (Hospitalary Knights), an important religious and military organization that was formed during the Crusades supposedly to protect the pilgrims that went visiting the Holly Land (Palestine). If you have never heard of them, probably you know about their rivals, the fabled Templar Knights.

I like the light effect here, which makes the shot a bit cold, not so hot. I saw the EXIF and I know it is wrong, but I have the impression of a summer morning with a raising sun still not too high and therefore a bit colder from the night. The colours are also nice and the white in the shadow shows a lot of texture, framed by the yellow and green.

Ola Jose,
A funny structure! you managed the light quite well as it is back lit and details of the facade are still clear.... i would prefer with a frontal light, but not always possible to wait till the perfect conditions.
Interesting architecture shot

Gosto do PDV escolhido e boa composição,cores e nitidez.
Um abraço,
Filipe

In spite of the shade you have still managed to show plenty of details. The old tree works well in the composition too. I am intrigued by the "pattern" on the wall and what appears to be an old grinding wheel. Is it artifacts left over from a previous historic building?

Mais uma foto alentejana!Está bonita!Gosto destas cores.

Jose, I know the history of both orders quite well and I think that your info regarding this place linked to the Order of Malta is a very interesting one. Your shot shows some signs of old history with the door fram appearing partially through the wall. Simple and yet powerful image. The contrasting colors yellow, white and blue do work very well. Looking at an image like this I wonder how our world would look without all the eletric wires. We take it as granted but actually they are so ugly.

Paulo
