Photographer’s Note

Castelo of Vide is a Portuguese town of the District of Portalegre, region Alentejo and subregion of the High place Alentejo, with next to 3200 inhabitants.

It is a head office of a municipality with 264,83 km ² of area and 3872 inhabitants (2001), subdivided in 4 freguesías. The municipality borders to the northeast on Spain, on the west on the municipality of Marvão, on the south on Portalegre, to the south-west on Crato and on the west and northwest on Nisa.

Castelo gives Vide exhibits his castle raised in the XIVth century by Don Dinis. Under the fortitude still badly injured of an explosion in 1700, a Jewry can admire with a discreet synagogue almost unnoticed between his alleys. Fonta da Vila also deserves a slow contemplation, for being a historical set of movies of cinema.

Capture done from the castle where it is possible to see the wide one panoramic on the town, and slightly further, on the top of the mountain it is possible to glimpse the nearby and nice town of Marvão.

Hola Charo, menuda vista que hay desde el castillo, es genial. Podemos apreciar una artística amalgama de blancas casas y rojizos tejados, gran personalidad y arquitectura!
Es un efecto visual bellísimo y de gran calidad, gran profundidad de campo! y todo y que el día perece que era gris, la imagen tiene un brillo envidiable.
Veo que está hecha el viernes pasado, supongo que disfrutando del fín de semana!!

Hi Charo,

capture of really interesting and very adorable town. Due to excellent POW the density is felt in great way, so as the same characteristics of towns buldings. I seem not be able to found a house of different colour. :) Thank you for this most pleasing and interesting place!

This image depicts what I see and think of Spain and Portugal. you have captured a perfect angle to disclose the closeness of the cities streets, and the grand architecture that remains as fresh as it was when it was first built.

Ces points de vue sur le toits donnent toujours des photos intéressantes au niveau des textures.Ici malgré le ciel gris le contraste de la couleur des tuiles est très esthétique.

Estoy algo avergonzado por te anticiparte en enviar una panorámica de esta bonita villa que yo conozco tan bien desde niño. Enhorabuena! El PDV es muy ventajoso, ofreciendo una bella vista sobre ese padrón de tejados, con la iglesia y su largo en gran destaque.
El gris del día resultó en un cielo menos interesante, pero la suavidad de la luz le va muy bien.

nice view from a very high POV with a good wide and deep view over the village with the red roofs and white walls. It is nice to follow the roofs to detect the alleys in between. Good light management on that hazy day.

hay un fuerte grafismo en esta toma, tu encuadre es muy bueno, y las casas abigarradas en la colina alrededor de la iglesia, a los pies del castillo protector, con sus paredes blancas y los tejados rojos nos ofrecen un gran impacto a la vista, en una composición muy atractiva y con calidad de imagen.
Me gusta, tiene fuerza y plasticidad.

Une magnifique vue de la ville, des toits à volonté et des maison toutes de la même couleur. C'est très différent de chez-nous où l'on voit des maisons de toutes les couleurs. Bonne composition et bon rendu des couleurs même sous un ciel nuageux. Ce paysage me fait penser à mes vacances d'un mois sur la Costa Del Sol, que je viens d'annuler, problèmes de santé de mon épouse mais rien de très grave.

A pesar de un dia muy nublado y gris has captado una hermosa vista de Castelo de Vide, preciosos los contrastes de colores del blanco con los tejados rojos, desde tu alto punto de vista podemos disfrutar de la plaza frente a la iglesia, esta ultima luce majestuosa entre las casas del lugar. Muy buena fotografia.

It looks like you were shooting in quite dull light, Charo, but the contrast between all the red roofs and white walls compensates for that. The castle provides an excellent POV over this town. Cheers . . . David

A well chosen, high POV for this view over the town. The light on the houses enhances and with its red and white colours it stands nicely out against the greyish, foggy background. The repetion of the houses is a nice effect. Thanks for sharing!
