The Pombaline Baixa is an elegant district, primarily constructed after the 1755 Lisbon earthquake. It takes its name from Sebastião José de Carvalho e Melo, 1st Marquess of Pombal, the Prime Minister to Joseph I of Portugal from 1750 to 1777 and key figure of the Enlightenment in Portugal, who took the lead in ordering the rebuilding of Lisbon after the 1755 earthquake. The Marquis of Pombal imposed strict conditions on rebuilding the city, and the current grid pattern strongly differs from the organic streetplan that characterised the district before the Earthquake.

Hi again Daniel,
Lisbon is surely to be one of my future trips. Beautiful perspective of the street viewed from the roofs. It leads our eyes until the older neighborhood. Good sharpness.

This is a splendid high POV shot of downtown Lisbon. It's a lovely city and that is quite obvious from this photo. Very nice colours and a fine light of early evening.

I think you took this picture on top of the Elevador de Santa Justa. Perfect POV.
The view is wonderful with the alternation of the red roofs and the light coloured facades.
The straight road leads our eyes nicely to the beautiful Castelo de São Jorge up on the hill.
Best regards, Paul

The excellent downward point of view lays the town out before us. The long straight avenue makes an excellent lead line toward the building stood at the end. I like the contrasts between the red roofs and the beige toned façades. A well presented image with good light, colours and sharpness.

Oooh what unusual light, it looks like just before the Blue Hour. You did so well with controlling it as you did. The perspective created by the vertical frame and the vertical street really guide the eyes beautifully. I like the textures of the old roofs and the details of the architecture have been collected skilfully. Excellent work and thank you for your kind words about my mamma. She is getting stronger every day and really appreciated the thoughts.

Wonderful town scape seen from high pov with the stunning red roofs catch the eye as strong element. Just breathtakingly captivating with great depth, bags of detail, excellent clarity and great colouring where the ambient of old street feel is well reflected here; Great work. Congrats.

This is a super shot Daniel, I like your elevated vantage point with the strong compositional lines of the street leading to the distant view of the castle. Central Lisbon looks very pedestrian-friendly! Warm regards Rosemary
