The Castle of the Moors (Portuguese: Castelo dos Mouros) is located in the town of Sintra, Portugal. The castle is located on a high hill overlooking the town, being one of its most important tourist attractions. It is part of the Cultural Landscape of Sintra, recognised as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
As implied by its name, the castle is of Moorish origin, but the current building is the result of a romantic renovation carried out in the 19th century. The views from its walls and towers are breathtaking. The town of Sintra with its royal palace, as well as the Pena National Palace are all visible from the Castle of the Moors
Sintra is both a town and a municipality in Portugal, located in the Grande Lisboa subregion and the Lisbon Region. The town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site on account of its 19th century Romantic architecture.
The town of Sintra refuses to be promoted to City Status, despite being the center of the second most populated municipality of Portugal.

É uma vista clássica mas é sempre também um grande prazer desfrutar desta deliciosa vista. Nunca me canço dela e assim é que não há vez que vá a Portugal que não suba até ao Castelo dos Mourosa de Sintra.

Há dois dias o Aires postou uma foto deste castelo, porém com outro ponto de vista diferente. Excelente profundidade criada pelas muralhas. Os diversos tons de verde estão magníficos.

Striking and vibrant greens .. which have a thoughtful interaction with the old place .. great vast point of view .. almost an oil painting effect with the saturated color. Very nice.

Olá Filipe,
Belo PdV e compo, gosto como a muralha conduz o olhar em volta da mata. As cores parecem ligeiramente puxadas de mais, mas o efeito até é agradável e faz lembrar um postal antigo.

Olá Filipe,
I've visited Sintra and this castle in 1985 (no digital camera then) and remember the splendid views you have there very well.
You managed to show us the forested hill, the surrounding wonderful wall and a view on the town in the valley. Nice saturated colours.
I also remember that I found that wall really impressive. On a certain point it looked like a small version of the Great Wall in China, specially because it was built beside the abyss.

I like the blue with the green of the trees in the composition. Details are also impressive, especially the deep valley in the background.

I like the good framing and especially the composition of this shot with the castle in the first plan and the landscape in the BG. The peopels give an interesting idea of the scale of the place. Great depht too.

The colors are vivid and varied, complementing the flawless composition. The presence of the man in the lower edge adds an enigmatic touch. I will long remember my visit to beautiful Sintra in 2001.

It is interesting to see what remains of this ancient fortress!
Seems like nature is taking back what enemies were not able to back then...

Hi Filipe, thanks to tour well chosen PoV, the Moorish Castle loooks like the Great Wall in China. I like the overall view, the only thing is that the green tones look more "green" than necessary. But I liked it. Congratulations, Tolga

You had an excellent POV enabling you to use the wall to lead the eye as it curves into the scene. Although I do like vibrant colours I feel these are a little bit too saturated. However the composition is very good, showing the steep drop and the town below.

Olá Filipe. Não posso dizer que seja das tuas fotos que mais me agradam. Embora o pov seja interessante e algo diferente do habitual e as cores também estejam bonitas, acho que tem pouco contraste o que faz as muralhas 'morrerem' no meio da vegetação. Mesmo assim é aceitável :). Um abraço.
