Photographer’s Note

Laid in unusually beautiful neighbourhood Sintra from former attracted with her charm. The already Moorish rulers of Lisbon raised their fortress here, the later enchanted the beauty of scenery kings of Portugal peeled on their summer residence Sintrę. English travellers from XVII and XIX age named the protecting before the sun forests of town Arkadia.
In 1809 year city visited Lord Byron. He in letter to mother wrote ; ,, ...locality SINTRA , five miles distant from capital, is maybe under every regard the most delightful place in Europe. She contains wonders so natural, as and artificial ; the palaces and the gardens, rising in the middle wild rocks, waterfalls and the precipice ; the monasteries of amazing height, extensive view on sea and on Tagus (...) Locality this unites with greenness of south France the wildness of western mountain countries. ''
