Volto a um dos sítios mais bonitos que visitei em 2008, O Palácio de Queluz. Muitas pessoas o comparam com, pelo menos em relação aos jardins, ao palácio nos arredores de Paris, em Versailles.
Pois digo vos que realmente esta estátua não fica a dever em nada a muitas desses belos jardins em Versailles, local onde também já tive.

"Os Jardins do Palácio Nacional de Queluz são uma atração a parte, além do acesso a eles ser gratuito, é relaxante caminhar por entre os labirintos e observar os peixes nos inúmeros lagos e chafarizes que fazem parte desses jardins, além de poder apreciar algumas esculturas num verdadeiro museu a céu aberto e a faxada interna do palácio, ainda mais interessante do que a externa. Os jardins são cortados por um rio, poluído devido à poluição vinda com a mordenidade. Mas se você é um amante da Matemática, aproveite para examinar as simetrias da parte mais próxima ao palácio.

Organizados a partir de 1760, aquando do casamento do infante D. Pedro com a futura Rainha D. Maria I, no perímetro do Palácio Nacional, os opulentos jardins revelam uma concepção cenográfica de largos recursos, que se deve ao arquitecto Robillion e ao jardineiro holandês José Van del Kolk, dentro do «gosto francês» dominante.

Os tanques, as fontes, as numerosas estátuas «rococó», os vasos de mármore, recortando e delimitando com rigor as zonas de verdura cuidadosamente organizadas, as cascatas barrocas, os lagos e o amplo canal (outrora navegável, e decorado com azulejaria setecentista), tudo denuncia um gosto minuncioso e opulento, animando o próprio conjunto arquitectónico do Palácio.

Os jardins do Palácio Nacional de Queluz, imitam os jardins do Palácio de Versailles com sua simetria e tanques.

Em frente da fachada de cerimônia, delineada em 1762 por Robillon, também chamado Jardim Pênsil por se apoiar em contrafortes de grossa silharia. Nele se encontram vários tanques, tendo o principal, ao centro, diversas figuras alegóricas das quatro estações (a que falta o Inverno) cercando a figura principal de Neptuno, que provém da desmantelada Quinta do Senhor de Serra em Belas, é atribuída ao grande mestre italiano Bernini. A balaustrada que o cerca é interrompida pela figura da Fama, de Manuel Alves e Silvestre Faria sobre o desenhos de Robillon." GEOCITIES
