Watching Whales
The archipelago of Azores is one of the best sites in Europe for the observation of Cetacean.It's one of the few places on earthwhere it's possible to meet sperm whale pods of females with their offsprings.
In the Azores you can see groups of sperm whales all year around and between April and October, their number increases with the arrival of other sperm whales that come from further south. Between February and June there's also the possibility to see Blue whales, Fin whales, Humpback whales, Sei whales and Killer whales (orca). All year around you can see also many different species of dolphins.
The whales, with special focus on the sperm whales, get close to the islands of São Miguel and Pico thanks to the morphology of the sea bottom and the abundance of food. That's why Futurismo Azores Whale Watching has its bases in these two islands, from where you can take tours to meet this amazing animals.

A strong and poetic mood, thanks to that lovely statue, in that sunset light (or maybe sunrise). The realisation is ok, with the off-centering and the light tilt. Original and really lovely.

I wonder if you could make us believe it is a true whale by making a closer photo and playing with the contrasts against blue hour :-)

An interesting sculpture ofcourse, but the way youve shot this makes it special. The lighting, the clarity and the colors... its all spot on.

The blue hour moment has provided a nice sky as backdrop for your 'tail spin' capture of this whale sculpture, without losing details due to your fine exposure and ISO400.

I have seen you shooting around with tripod, so I believe this 1/6s is taken with one. A fine post. tfs

a sua nota fala tanto dos açores que estou em dúvida se este belo monumento é mesmo em oeiras ou é nos açores.. Gostei muito da foto, o monumento está magnificamente mostrado, gosto muito do enquadramento e da luz e das pessoas curtindo o fim de dia ali ao lado, dando a escala do tamanho da escultura. belo trabalho

Uma maneira bonita e diferente de ver as baleias. As cores estão muito boas. Pessoalmente talvez cortava um pouco no lado direito mas a verdade é que gosto muito da foto.
