Watching Whales
The archipelago of Azores is one of the best sites in Europe for the observation of Cetacean. It's one of the few places on earthwhere it's possible to meet sperm whale pods of females with their offsprings.
In the Azores you can see groups of sperm whales all year around and between April and October, their number increases with the arrival of other sperm whales that come from further south. Between February and June there's also the possibility to see Blue whales, Fin whales, Humpback whales, Sei whales and Killer whales (orca). All year around you can see also many different species of dolphins.
The whales, with special focus on the sperm whales, get close to the islands of São Miguel and Pico thanks to the morphology of the sea bottom and the abundance of food. That's why Futurismo Azores Whale Watching has its bases in these two islands, from where you can take tours to meet this amazing animals.
