Hi dear TE friends

For the second time, I was in the Plant of the gunpowder of Barcarena to take a coffee.

The weather was so good and I didn’t resist in making a photograph but from a different perspective.

It's a very pleasant place to stay, to visit the museum, for a coffee or a meal.

The Fábrica da Pólvora (Plant of the gunpowder) de Barcarena was in activity between 1540 and 1940, having played an important rule in the lifes of the local population by creating jobs and promoting the region´s and the country´s development through the production of gunpowder.
Having remained abandoned for some years, the Town Council of Oeiras decided to retrieve the old factory and to transform it into a leisure and cultural center that now presents a variety of motives of interest
Near the entrance you can admire the enormous sun-dial on the ground, both a work of art and an historical object. On your right, the Museum of Black Powder offers the opportunity to learn about the factory´s history over the ages; nearby stands an enormous lake that used to serve as the main cistern. On the left, you will find a sophisticated restaurant and a bar with live music, as well as an art gallery and the Pátio do Enxugo (Drying Yard), with water games and where open-air shows are organized.
Between the Lower Factory (at the entrance) and the Upper Factory, the stream of Barcarena was essential to supply the place with water.

In the Upper Factory the Viveiros Municipais (Municipal Plant Nurseries)show countless species of flora and there is an enormous garden where children can play and adults relax, read or engage in conversations.

It is also on this side of the stream that other outbuildings of the factory are situated, showing some of the old machines used in the manufacture of gunpowder over the years.

A Fábrica da Pólvora de Barcarena situa-se na freguesia de Barcarena, no concelho de Oeiras, distrito de Lisboa, em Portugal. Funcionou no período compreendido entre 1540 e 1940.
Pode-se considerar que esta fábrica estaria dividida em duas fábricas separadas pela ribeira de Barcarena: a Fábrica de Baixo e a Fábrica de Cima. A referida ribeira foi de extrema importância para a fábrica, pois era dela que se extraía a água necessária à laboração da fábrica.
A Câmara Municipal de Oeiras adquiriu a Fábrica da Pólvora em 1995.
Actualmente, estando desactivado o funcionamento da fábrica, o local foi transformado num núcleo de cultura. No seu interior, composto por diversos edifícios dispersos por uma extensa área, podemos encontrar o Museu da Pólvora Negra, uma galeria de arte e alguns locais de lazer, como restaurante, bar com música ao vivo, jardins e locais preparados para espectáculos ao ar livre.
Na Fábrica da Pólvora, foi comemorado o Dia Internacional dos Museus e a Noite dos Museus em 2007, com diversos espectáculos e ateliers nas datas de 15 de Maio a 20 de Maio de 2007. From Wikipedia

Gosto muito! O edifício é bonito e as cores dão um ar muito alegre com aquele sol radioso que ultimamente tem sido tão raro de ver ao vivo. A colocação do edifício ao fundo, descentrado para a esquerda, com toda aquela água na frente, com os seus reflexos, mais aquele ramo a ajudar o enquadramento estão muito bem.

Também já lá estive e sei que é um lugar muitissimo agradável. A Câmara de Oeiras fez um excelente trabalho de restauro de uma coisa que estava ao abandono aqui há 20 atrás. Curiosamente, muito pouca gente mostra fotos dos azulejos da entrada. Vou ter de ser eu a fazê-lo quando aí for no verão do'ano que vem.
Voltando à foto, gosto mesmo muito das cores quentes que conseguiste. Aquele amarelão é sensacional.

What an impressive shot. I can see the polarizer effect and the vivid tone of the image as you set it on-camera. What I cannot see is the program you used for compression and with what parameters. Compression and overall image clarity is exceptional!
Your POV is also great including the blue sky.

Beautiful building and grounds - it's hard to believe that this place used to manufacture gunpowder. The colour is outstanding, especially the contrast between the yellow building and the blue sky and green trees. Excellent work!

Bonsoir,
belle photo de cet endroit avec cette eau dans laquelle se reflète très bien ce bâtiment jaune.
Jolies couleurs et bonne netteté, belle branche a droite qui rempli le ciel dans ce coin.
Ps: je vais remettre le fromage de la photo du 10 qui ne s' était pas bien mis.

The colour of this building is what catches most my attention. I like the bright yellow against the blue sky and greenish water. Excellent angle to capture the water pool on the foreground and gradually lead our eyes to the building. Sharpness is excellent. Thanks Aires.

Não seria necessário qualquer tipo de PP com esta composição e exposição.
Gosto da forma como o edificio e muro parcem abraçar a agua e reflexos.
Gosto ainda do contraste de cores e da luz muito bonita que dominam a foto.
Os ramos que penetram pelo lado direito criam um efeito interesante.
Os reflexos preenchem de forma perfeita o centro da foto que sem eles ficaria um pouco vazia.

We have an ancient gunpowder factory into a very big park in North of Paris, the town name is Sevran and Alfred Nobel worked there.
