The Santa Justa Lift (Portuguese: Elevador de Santa Justa), also called Carmo Lift (Portuguese: Elevador do Carmo), is an elevator/lift in civil parish of Santa Justa, in the historical city of Lisbon, situated at the end of Rua de Santa Justa. It connects the lower streets of the Baixa with the higher Largo do Carmo (Carmo Square.) Since its construction, the Lift has become a tourist attraction for Lisbon as, among the urban lifts in the city, Santa Justa is the only remaining vertical one. Others, including Elevador da Glória and Elevador da Lavra, are funiculars, and the other Lift constructed around the period, the Elevator of São Julião has since been demolished.
It was inaugurated in 1902.

What a unique and beautiful structure, I have never come across its like before. Your choice of angle to shoot this emphasized perfectly the narrow street and building, and the contrt between light and shade is wonderful. I love the level of detail and the vivid sky which looks to be promising a warm and sunny day. Thanks for the excellent note too!
All the best

an amazing structure this, and captured in your own inimitable style and eye for the best possible image with the most impact. The light and detailing here are just perfect and the result a classy and eye-catching shot. Superb!

Very difficult subject to photograph for so many different reasons but you did a great job. I love the clarity and the colors...

C'est un peu la Tour Eiffel de Lisbonne ! Beau contraste avec le bleu du ciel et l'ombre au bas de l'image.

Assez originale l'architecture de cet ascenseur. Bonne luminosité qui nous permet d'apprécier les détails. Note intéressante. Merci de partager cette information. Salutations.

Les conditions de lumière n'étaient pas faciles pour le photographe mais cet ascenseur est si original qu'il méritait bien cette mise en image.

Not only is this a super shot Stephane but the strange but distinctive architecture fascinates me... what a good subject! The light was challenging but I like the contrast between the deep shadows and the sunlit areas. I think it works with the punchy, graphic composition and the architecture. It would be nice to see a little more detail in the shadows but I like the shot as it stands. Warm regards rosemary

Un super sujet pour une photo d'architecture.
J'aime plus l'efficacité de la composition et le jeu de clair-obscur qui ajoute un attrait certain à la présentation du lieu.
