Photographer's Note
The South African government was responsible for gifting the construction of the square in front of the monument: the 50-metre-diameter (160 ft) Rosa-dos-Ventos (compass rose) was executed using different types of marble. Designed by the architect Cristino da Silva, it includes a Mappa mundi that is 14 metres wide, showing the routes of Portuguese carracks and caravels during the Age of Discovery.

Hello Daniel,
I love this shot, both expansive and microscopic at the same time. You had a fabulous vantage point to view the entire circular medallion, and yet you give us the scale by the individuals walking around, crossing from continent to another. I will be visiting Lisbon next August, as I have done several times in the past. This time I will seek out the Rosa-dos-Ventos for sure.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hello Daniel.
Very original and beautiful composition, excellent catch from a high point that gives us a great perspective on this beautiful drawing on the pavement, the presence of people take great mosaic proportions.
Well done.
Have a nice day.
Best regards.
Luis.

Hello Daniel,
At first I was puzzled why you had taken this photo. Then I realized what I was looking at and was very enthusiastic. It's a rather mindblowing look to see all these very small persons walking about the giant mosaic. Very well seen and composed.
Kind regards,
Gert

hello Daniel
I share the opinion of Gert
One has to open the thumbnail to discover the people like ants on this huge mosaic pavement and then suddenly everything changes
bravo, have a nice day

WoW! great! Superb photo, Daniel! I like this composition, on the thumbnail it looks like a small compass rose. The people give us a scale this square. TFS!

Hello Daniel,
On this world map it's easy to walk from one continent to another.
Excellent high POV, probably on top of the Monument to the Discoveries in Belém.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Daniel,
This image was a surprise. From the thumbnail I couldn't tell that there were tiny people standing on this monument! You must have taken this photo from a very high location. I like that the entire frame is filled with the compass rose, and there are plenty of people walking around. It is a beautiful monument, too.

Ciao Daniel

Hello Daniel - This is an amazing view. Initially I only saw the marble work, looking closer I saw the figures and suddenly the shot took on a completely different feel. The scale became apparent! What an impressive floor. Your POV gives a very good overview which would not be seen at ground level. Enjoy your weekend. Rosemary

It took me a moment with this one Daniel, but I agree the scene from this angle is fantastic. I'm fascinated by the map itself and the story behind it, but I'm also really enjoying the view you've created, with these little people wandering through the frame over this beautiful tilework. The colors are bright and vivid in the direct sunlight, and the effect of the whole is really wonderful.

Caro Daniel
Che grande bel POV da sopra. La gente sembrano come insetti. Bellissimi i colori, il grafismo e le linee nitide. Ho solo una critica: la mia Australia é tagliato! hehehe ma non é la tua colpa :)
Un abbraccio, complimenti

Hi Daniel
this was an unexpected surprise, it wasn't at all what I thought it was going to be.
I thought it was going to be a small subject on the ground, but its very large taken from a higher POV.
cool shot for sure, very graphic and colorful.
cheers
craig
