Hi dear TE friends

This picture was made from the Monument to the discoveries, in Belem.

In this picture, you can see:
- Bridge 25th of April
- Cristo Rei
- Cacilheiro boat
- Sailing boat

The cacilheiros are boats linking the two banks of the River Tagus. As the name suggests, they leave of the Cacilhas parish of going to Lisbon.

Once, there were boats cacilheiros from Seixal, Montijo and Trafaria, now replaced by modern Catamarans. Until the construction of the bridge over the Tagus (inaugurated on 6 August 1966) was the only link between the two shores of the Tagus.

Some of these old boats have been restored and reused for work, for example, as a restaurant. We can see one of them leaving from Belem Pier in direction to Trafaria

The 25 de Abril Bridge is a suspension bridge connecting the city of Lisbon, capital of Portugal, to the municipality of Almada on the left bank of the Tagus river. It was inaugurated on August 6, 1966 and a train platform was added in 1999. It is often compared to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, USA. (The same company constructed both bridges.) With a total length of 2,277 m, it is the 20th largest suspension bridge in the world. The upper platform carries six car lanes, the lower platform two train tracks. Until 1974, the bridge was named Salazar Bridge.~

Cristo-Rei (english translation: Christ the King) is a Catholic monument overlooking Lisbon, capital of Portugal. It was inspired by the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and inaugurated on May 17, 1959. In that time Portugal was being ruled by the President of the Council António de Oliveira Salazar, and it was by his command that the Cristo-Rei was built.
The monument was built on the left-bank of the Tagus river, facing Lisbon on the other bank. Its location is at coordinates 38º40'43" N 9º10'17" W, in the civil parish of Pragal, in the city of Almada, in District of Setúbal, Lisbon Region. It is a national monument.
