Photographer’s Note

Today I am taking you to the famous carriage museum situated in Belem, a neighbourhood in Lisboa, famous for its pastry shop, the Monastery and the Tower and also the monument of discoveries.
This Museum keeps incredible examples of the Royal carriages along the centuries, and I would suggest all visitors to go and see it. But taking decent pictures is another story. We all know the signs " No flash " and "No Tripods allowed" only too well. True the new cameras can handle the light much better, no need to buy 1600 ASA films, but this particulart place is tricky in the sense that a strong light comes from the windows especially on sunny days, and there are a lot of direct light windows with old objects inside. The carriages themselves are rather dark. I used a 2500 ISO and got only 1/15.
I turned and turned around for a spot where the light would be acceptable and no harsh rays would interfere with my subject. Finally I decided to crop part of the carriage and settle for the rear only.
