Photographer’s Note

This is a shot of Cabo da Roca (Cape Rock), a "ponta mais ocidental do continente europeu" (the westernmost point of mainland Europe). It is in the Portuguese municipality of Sintra, west of Lisbon district. The exact location, according to a stone plaque on an obelisk: latitude 38º 47 north, longitude 9º 30 west. you can also read:

e o mar começa

Camoes"

(Here, where the land ends and the sea begins. Camoes)

To get there, we just took a train from Oeiras where we were staying (you can also take from Lisbon) to Cascais. There, you go to the bus station across the street and take a bus to Sintra. Cabo da roca is on the way.

We had splendid weather (no clouds on the sky) when we went there. The landscape is worth the trip.

I increased contrast, cropped to get rid of a bit of wall in the right lower corner and resized to match TE standards.

Hi Yvonne, it is quite difficult to catch this beautiful light at Cabo da Roca. The weather is usually hazy despite the strong wind. Under these conditions you did a good job. Well done. Tolga

Good shot of this wonderful place where I`ve been about 25 years ago.
I like the dferrent colors of this nice cliffs and their contrast with the dark blue sea.

You have a fantastic pov from this beautiful place, yes the different colours of these cliffs make it nice contrast against the blue sea, a pity the city view on the distance not too clearly maybe cause of smog weather on that day. Very nice post, tfs
