Photographer’s Note

Cabo da Roca is a stunning cape that forms the westernmost point of mainland Europe (and, of course, mainland Portugal). The great Portuguese Poet Luís de Camões once defined Cabo da Roca as the place "where the land ends and the sea begins".
It is located in the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park and its coordinates (38°47′N, 9°30′W) are inscribed on a stone plaque on the monument at the site.
The cliff rises out of the Atlantic Ocean to approximately 140 metres above sea level, and the lighthouse along with a tourist shop also sit on top of the cliff.
The cape is a popular tourist attraction: every Sunday morning it is common to see many bikers gathered to share their thoughts and experiences about motorcycles, enjoying the astonishing blessed
landscape.

El «Cabo da Roca» es el punto más occidental del Continente Europeo o, como escribió Luís Vaz de Camões, el local “Donde la Tierra se acaba y el mar comienza” (Os Lusíadas, Canto VIII). Un padrón en piedra con una lápida firman esta particularidad geográfica a todos cuanto visitan este local.
El «Cabo da Roca» es también denominado «Focinho da Roca» por las gentes ligadas a las cosas del mar, y más poéticamente por «Promontório da Lua», Está integrado en el Parque Natural de Cintra - Cascais, el cual engloba una vasta área de interés natural y belleza paisajística que va desde la Cidadela de Cascais hasta a la desembocadura del río «Falcão». Partiendo del «Cabo da Roca» es posible seguir variados eco-trillos.
En el «Cabo da Roca», el visitante se depara con un paisaje espectacular, un imponente farol e infraestructuras varias. Es también en este local que se encuentra una de las especies vegetales más raras la «armería pseudoarmería».
Estando inserido en una zona de fáciles accesos y de gran afluencia turística son innumerables las personas que lo visitan.

Hi Gonçalo, that's a very beautiful, smooth and romantic shot from the westernmost point of the continental Europe. I've never been there at sunset time but one day I'll try to go there at this time.

una toma muy elegante y clásica, en un buen trabajo de encuadre en tercios. Las siluetas del paisaje y las personas en primer plano, los tonos plateados del mar, el sol en la línea del horizonte y los tonos naranja en el cielo componen una imagen realmente atractiva.

The light of the sunset is giving nice colors to the sky and the sea and a set of shadows to the picture. The point of view leads our eyes toward the horizon which is giving a sense of depth to the photo. A scenery wich is ging a peaceful sensation. Have a nice day.
