Photographer’s Note
Kath (feather) gave me the idea to post this one when I saw her Scottish rainbow.
As far as I can remember, this is also my first photograph of a rainbow. It took it on the same day of this one, after having gotten an involuntary bath of heavy rain.
I hesitated much about the best cropping. Contrarily to what seems to be the main trend, I have nothing against square formats, actually sometimes I like them very much, so my indecision has nothing to do with any bias for or against a particular format. I am curious about knowing your opinion.
WS's:
#1 - Alternative cropping of the same shot.
#2 - Another view with another angle from the same place.
Location of the POV (latitude, longitude): 38.78,-9.4974

Bonjour Jose,
Best regards.
Daniel.

Thanks for the mention; good to think I can be an inspiration of any kind ;D
Something I never thought about before is how the presence of a rainbow limits composition options. Here you demonstrate the same problem I had. From the 3 you present I think you made the best choice. In WS1 I think there is too much empty space on the right which is no doubt why you cropped for this one. WS2 is an excellent composition of the landscape, but the rainbow is only a small part of the image. I'm assuming there was something on the left that you didn't want in the image as that would have made your main post better still. I have nothing against square format per se, but seem to have an unreasonable resistance to using it. Jaap uses it consistently with success. I don't think I have used it more than once or twice, and when cropping (except for pano format) always feel the need to crop the other side to retain proportions. This is for no reason that I can justify. Anyway it looks good here.

Wow...captured rainbow always a special moment and you were lucky for the beautiful nature. All pictures are great but honestly i prefer the 2nd ws, despite with the smaller rainbow but it has more beautiful foreground. Anyway very good works Jose friend and tfs.

I've never seen a rainbow in Cabo da Roca, since it's always windy. But you were so lucky ! I would prefer this one to the others in the WS.
WS-2 is also interesting with the sea view. But the shares of both rainbow and the ocean were quite limited. If you had turned your camera further right the rainbow would disappear and vice-versa.
Best regards, Tolga

Hello Jose,
beautiful capture of this colorful rainbow. Even though the rainbow is more impressive in this picture I would prefer the second with only a little part of the rainbow to the left. To me the overall picture of WS#2 is a trifle better.
Best wishes,
Helmut

Olá Jose ,
This is really decisive moment for capturing wonderful rainbow perfectly. The landscape is beautiful with light plays on ridges and valleys. I'm not cropping man that's why prefer your next complementary post #2, because its include more wide view with sea and flowers. Both of them captured perfectly in excellent technical quality. Have a nice new week.

hi Jose
When we see rainbow, most times we had no camera to capture it. So when you are lucky enough to have a camera to shoot, the exposure and effect of the rainbow to be captured must be well thought. Here, you showed all done according to a high level of skill, especially in good composition and balanced proportion of it. Great work.

Hi Jose
Excellent rainbow capture, they seem quite hard to capture, this one seems to have excellent depth and colours to it. Excellent lighting while the bluish sky is complimenting to the greens. TFS

Prefiro a "#2: Another angle from the same place".
Cumprimentos,
Francisco
